As an unabashed Cubs fan, and loather of all…most…things Dodger (especially Ken Landreaux), it may surprise you that I love Vin Scully. Â He’s the best, by such a long way that there is no number two. Â The Dodgers had an awesome bobblehead night for him (one of the best bobbleheads, ever), and did this tribute to him, narrated of course, by Martin Mull?
Note that Tommy Lasorda refers to Vin in the past tense. Â Tommy must have thought they were doing an obit. Â I guarantee you, Vin saw that and thought, “Screw that fat bastard, I’ll outlive him by a decade.”
For those of us who think the second best thing about the mlb.tv package is unfettered access to Vin’s late night broadcasts of Dodgers home games, the fact that he’s already announced he’ll be back in 2013 is great news.
Thank you for posting this. I haven’t read it. I am pleased that I no longer have to see the stern glare of the 90th greatest player in Cub history every time I opened this page. I am so grateful that I promise that I will read whatever it is you have to say about Mr. Scullly (with three l’s).
Got one!
