Yeah. That’s right. There’s no way I’d play the A team two nights in a row. Something about Corey’s hamstring wasn’t right. I saw that as he rounded the bases after his homerun.

How many has Maddux given up in the first inning this year? It seems like his ERA would be sub-3, if not for the first frame.
So long as the Brewers don’t run Bill Hall and Russell Branyan don’t go yard, we should win this one (even with Goodwin and Bako).
Tom Goodwin

Today the Brewers are wearing ugly blue uniforms. Good for them.
By the way, I hope the Carlos Zambrano-Jose Macias inside out rally caps catch on. In fact, I’d like the see the Cubs wear those in the field when they’re behind.
And, I’d like to see if Zambrano can turn his batting helmet inside out. I’m betting he could.
By the way, is it wrong that I kind of like that only about 100 people know where Desipio is at right now? It’s like the old days.
Why did I post? Oh, yeah, nice line from Chip, "As the Cubs continue to embark on their road trip." It takes three days to embark?
Last night I actually used the PIP on my TV so I could watch the Family Guy marathon on Fox and the Cubs at the same time. Today I tuned in expecting Stewey and Brian to be doing play-by-play. I’m very disappointed.
Best line of last night…
Waiter: I hope you enjoy your food.
Stewey: I hope you enjoy your studio apartment.

Hey Santo, have some cheese with your whine, you friggin’ crybaby.
I can’t stand listening to Ronny sometimes. He perpetuates this self-pitying notion of Cub fans that we’re trying to reverse.
Yeah, okay, we didn’t get a break on the stolen base attempt. But the legless wonder cries about us NEVER getting a break. We get breaks, trust me. You just don’t remember, Ronny.
Besides, even if it’s true, the fans don’t want to to hear Santo whine about it on the radio.

It would seem a majority are so disgusted with this team that they’d have long ago abandoned this overly crowded bandwagon.

Baker Basher
on August 19, 2004 at 3:47 pm
Last inning was a great example of what an idiot Dusty is? Remlinger basically was the guy that sent last night’s game into extra innings. So let’s bring him in this game and let’s see if he can blow it again and damn near did it.
Screw psychology of you need to bring him back in a similiar situation. We don’t have time to screw with that. We need to hammer home games. Leicester should have been in there.
We need some runs this inning or there will be some more drama with Hawkins in the 9th.
Baker you create your own problems a lot of times. Once again, you never fail to make an automatic win into a nailbiting disaster.

Sorry, I don’t come from the school of powderpuff coaching. I guess you would bake Remlinger a cupcake after last night’s game and tell him everything will be OK. Then butter him up and play him again the next day and keep your fingers crossed that he doesn’t make you look like a jackass that you are.
I’m sorry, on this team we have a lot of guys who continously screw up. They need to be accountable for their mistakes and you need to let them know about it. Not tippy toe around them and make sure their feelings won’t be hurt.
You might as well coach a wives soccer team then if you feel that way.

I think it really came down to the fact that Dusty wanted to use a lefty and can’t use Rusch because he’s starting this weekend and Mercker has pitched in like six straight games.
I also agree that you’re not going to teach Remlinger anything by not using him. In fact, since he’s been going good, it’s a good thing to run him back out there today.
If Gruddy can pick up a ground ball nobody scores.

Pat and Ron acted like this series was so tough to win with their reaction today. That’s pathetic we had to sweat this series out.
Baker needs to start chewing some serious ass to light a fire under these screwups.
If we are serious about this wild card thing, we’ll sweep Houston this weekend. I’m sure we will make it into another fiasco though.
Baker has a lot of circus act botched play up his sleeve I’m sure. Should be another "Sweaty Joe" of a series in Houston.

I don’t know why some of you keep defending Dusty’s moves. If you guys feel that way, I’m surprised you weren’t calling for Farns to be in there in the 9th.
Baker has made some horrendous moves down the stretch here lately.
The players haven’t come through in some of these instances, but playing a guy like Bako down the stretch isn’t going to cut it either.
Pitching guys out of the bullpen just recently as they screwed us the night or day before, isn’t going to cut it also.
Baker has to smarten up or we’re going to be taking a seat in the playoffs.
Baker rode our starting pitching last year because they threw 8 sometimes 9 innings down the stretch. We’re not doing that this year. He needs to make some wise decisions out of that pen.
That’s all I’m saying. You get my drift.

Baker Basher – Look I’m not saying I think everything Dusty does is right, in fact, I specifically said that he should have stopped running Farnsworth out there when he started going bad. However, Remlinger is a guy with a proven track record who had one bad outing. I don’t think Dusty sent him out there to boost his confidence. The guy is 39, if he needs a confidence boost, he’s done in this league. He sent Remlinger out because he’s been the most consistent reliever. By your logic, Baker should have yanked Maddux in the first inning.
T.J. Brown
on August 19, 2004 at 4:30 pm
CT,
I think if Basher had his way we’d see the following players benched:
Patterson
Garciaparra
Sosa
Alou
Ramirez
Lee
Barrett
Grudz
Walker
Bako
Macias
Goodwin
Ramon Martinez
Hollandsworth
Wood
Prior
Clement
Zambrano
Maddux
Remlinger
Borowski
Hawkins
Dempster
Farnsworth
Rusch
Wellemeyer
Mitre
Oh, and Baker would have been fired April 3, 2003.
But they’d all learn their lesson, right, Basher?
People like to pick on B.C. for every little inane thing he says, but you always know when it’s him posting. Brian Crozier’s OK in my book.

It’s definitely inevitable, because you know it’s going to happen.
Further more, there are only some ass clowns I would get rid of on this team.
Coaches-Gary Matthews and Wendell Kim
Players(if you can call them that)
-Farnsworthless
-Gabor Bako
-Old Man Goodwin
I would also place Baker into some type of psychological counseling for butt******* certain players also. This guy loves playing favorites.
That’s all. Peace.

For the love of…somebody ban this idiot. Look, Baker took a team that was picked to finish 4th or 5th in its division last year (look it up, I think SI had us finishing only in front of the Brewers) to the NLCS. Do I agree with everything he does? No. I don’t like Wendell Kim or Gabor(although this is not Baker’s call) either. However, I’m going to withold judgement on this season until it’s OVER. Then, we can hire Larry Bowa or R. Lee Ermey or whoever you think should manage this team.

You mean the Cubs actually won?
Are the Cubs on the verge of doing something they haven’t done since Leo Durocher was manager (have back-to-back winning seasons)?
Are the Cubs in awfully good position to do something they haven’t done since Frank Chance was manager (go to the postseason in consecutive years)?
I’m not saying Dusty Baker’s perfect, nor am I saying certain players are. But at this point, can you bring in anyone better?
I guess you can bring in Larry Bowa. There’s a disciplinarian. He’ll be available real soon.

Welcome to my posse. To think we both shuddered at the thought of Larry Bowa back in Cub pinstripes…

Yeah. That’s right. There’s no way I’d play the A team two nights in a row. Something about Corey’s hamstring wasn’t right. I saw that as he rounded the bases after his homerun.
We’re sure to put some fire in the line up today
Chavez struck out swinging, Lamb stole home Bruntlett to second.
Now that I have those 5 at-bats for the past 8 days under my belt, I’ve definitely gotten my stroke back and will be ready to PH when needed!
Oh, Goodwin AND Bako? Crap, you’ll need it for sure.
#5, but what is The Beege up to???
I’m using my cane and guide dog her in left field.
How many has Maddux given up in the first inning this year? It seems like his ERA would be sub-3, if not for the first frame.
So long as the Brewers don’t run Bill Hall and Russell Branyan don’t go yard, we should win this one (even with Goodwin and Bako).
Dusty said on the postgame last night that hew as going to rest Corey.
Don’t say you weren’t warned.
I’ve got a 1-4 in me. And a lot of 0-5’s, too.

We lost Miller and Pettite, right? And now old Roger is injured. So, uh, what’s our starting rotation?
Dusty’s using two bench players against a lefty today…Bako and Goodwin. From which side of the plate do these two morans attempt to bat?
Hmm?
Shut up Dolan I’m just trying to make Goodwin and Bako feel good about themselves
Guess what? Now I play right field for the Brewers.
Buddy.

TJ,
In July the CubsLive’s averaged about 50,000 hits each. Today if we crack 3,000 it’ll be a shock.
When I started moving the site yesterday I forgot this game was a day game.
As always…I’m a dope.
I couldn’t find my arse with both hands, let alone the strike zone.
Neifi Perez is a what? He’s an infielder? I thought he was one of Pascual Perez’s brothers? Hell, put him in the bullpen anyway.
I’m still tired from hosting Good Morning America this morning.
What, that was Chris Cuomo? Like there’s a difference. Neither one of us can read out loud.
All that and it’s 1-0?
What a shock.
A double.
2 singles.
An error.
A Walk.
1-0.
Great?
Not only did that pituitary freak Branyan homer twice yesterday, but he also homered off me earlier this year.
Today, he’ll go 0-4.
Hey Cub Fans, check this out (the last bit) – it’s about me!!
http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/nnq-18august04/
I’ll bet you didn’t think you could get less impressed than you already were, did you?
I’m assuming that Maddux is just going give Podsednik 2nd base.
Remember, I hit one of the biggest home runs in Cubs history in 1998:

Hey Santo, have some cheese with your whine, you friggin’ crybaby.
I can’t stand listening to Ronny sometimes. He perpetuates this self-pitying notion of Cub fans that we’re trying to reverse.
Yeah, okay, we didn’t get a break on the stolen base attempt. But the legless wonder cries about us NEVER getting a break. We get breaks, trust me. You just don’t remember, Ronny.
Besides, even if it’s true, the fans don’t want to to hear Santo whine about it on the radio.
So none of the Cub pitchers have gotten the memo that I suck yet?
I hate the first inning
Maddux actually has less than Capuano did.
Those bitches wouldn’t be running all crazy like that on MY arm!
I usually do in the first inning
I’d better be hurt.
Oh, we’re fuct.
I’m still dead. The Cubs’ playoff hopes will also be shortly.
I cough up a ton a runs in the first inning, don’t I? Yay!
Any chance Rusch can come in now, and start tomorrow’s game?
Greggie, the question is can we score a ton a runs after the first inning?
Cripes, relax. There are 24 more outs. Maddux hasn’t done well in the first inning all year. Let the new batting order try to dig out from under this, before you helpfully toss on a shovelful of dirt.
Don’t worry, with us in the lineup, we’re sure to score more than 4 runs!
I’ve got at least three more triples in me, relax guys!
Gabor’s due up in the next inning, so you know Capuano’s gonna have some trouble there.
Cubs will score 2 this inning. if you have noticed, during Maddux’s starts they will come back. Remember Greggie’s 300th win. Giants led 3-0. I bet Maddux will get a hit or an rbi to help.
I guess the good news is, only half of the men that came to the plate last inning scored. And the pitcher leads off the next inning.
I have no access except this site! what happened to Maddux?
Pratt grounded into triple play third to second to first, Polanco out at third, Byrd out at second.
2 run homer on the way
Here I come!!
I’m 3 for 15 this month.
At least you stayed out of the double play, Gabor.
Is it a requisite of many Cubs fans here that everything the Cubs do is the single most terrible thing in the world?
It would seem a majority are so disgusted with this team that they’d have long ago abandoned this overly crowded bandwagon.
Please get off — I need the elbow room and could do with less mopes posting here like a bitter Ron Santo, whining about water being wet and the sky being blue.
I’m good.
It’s hero time…
whining about Gabor or whining about anonymous posts on a Cubs site?
You’re still 1 RBI shy of my output yesterday, Debbie Lee.
Don’t worry, Greggie, I’m as lost as you are.
Not exactly a pitching clinic going on here.
I suppose all the whiners want back on? Scram, we’ll stay put and enjoy the new game: 4-4 tie.
I’ve struck out TWICE against Chris Cappucino?
What the hell’s going on?
I told you guys, the Cubs come back during Maddux’s starts. They like helping out the elderly.
Damn you Dolan you’ve got me all worried about being suspeneded. I’m worrying so much I’m striking out.
Sure Derrek Lee’s good, but the guy traded for him is good too, just not as obviously good. I’d say he’s sneaky good.
But Bill that guy is from asian domain
Bill, you don’t hear too much about them Korean plays?
Nice work by Lee, glad I didn’t give up on him in fantasy league, he’s been carrying my team for the last 3 months.
They’re all Japs to me, pal.
ME! I love baseball, and, according to Ron and Pat, that is the only qualification. I’m in, I just need to Bud to bore himself to death like he does the rest of us.
The weird part about Maddux is, even when he has a bad inning, he still doesn’t throw that many pitches. 22 in the first, that’s a decent inning for Clement.
I say this home plate ump is atrocious.
Yes!!
Stop pumping your fists for my homer, you boo-bird buddies.
Wait, are those fans giving Sammy a standing ovation? They’d better cut that out or he’ll get the wrong idea and think all he has to do is hit a few upper deck homers to get everybody behind him again.
You crazy enablers, you.
When’s batting practice over?
Am I just wrong or does this ump really suck?
Based on all these homers, the visibility must be good. Strange for a day game in Milwaukee.
I was wondering the same thing
His nickname is Grunz (rhymes with runs), right?
I don’t know about the ump, but I suck.
Don’t they sell those beer goggles in Miller Park to help with visibility? These are the goggles that let you see the world through the eyes of a drunk. Put them on and Chippy looks like a serviceable baseball announcer…
I really suck
That’s two for me and two for Nomar. See we are equal talents.

9) Maddux
With C-Pat, A-Ram, and Nomar all gimpy, it ain’t out of the realm.
I will destroy the Cubs!
Russell Branyan doubles (3) on a line drive to right fielder Sammy Sosa. Lyle Overbay scores. Russell Branyan out at 3rd on the throw, right fielder Sammy Sosa to catcher Paul Bako to pitcher Greg Maddux to third baseman Aramis Ramirez.
So…did Gabor need a cut-off man to get the ball to third base?
Don’t worry Cub fans, I always have a plan. I only aquirred Nefi so that I can trade him to the Red Sox.
Why is all the gas on the field? Coach can I pitch today? My ass is on fire from the Old Milwaukee pat and I drank last night.
We show Branyan at 2nd but say he’s out at 3rd

Shut up Walker! It’s Grundz.
Oh boy – you thought Jeff Bennett was weird looking?
I took all the Brewers MLB pictures with a fish-eye lens.
Whoever’s pretending to be should shut up.
Hell, #168, at least I didn’t send the Farns out there!
Let’s make this thing real interesting and put the Farns in! I dare you Dusty. The sad thing is, you are just dumb enough to try that. You dumb son of a bitch.
Baker Basher…sorry, can’t agree with you on this one, Remlinger was our best pitcher out of the pen until last night. The run scored today was Grud’s fault not his. While I can agree that Baker has given some of his guys too long a leash (Farnsworth), you don’t yank a guy out of his spot after he screws up once.
That’s not nearly as weird as the photo of me that they’re using for MLB Gamesday.
CT, didn’t you get the memo? Or, er, read the last couple posts? My name’s got an N now.
Boooooooooooooooo.
Booooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Grundz, I’ll use the Ron Santo pronunciation from now on.
I bet Borowski is excited. He’ll see me in Iowa. I can’t wait to brag about that homerun I hit off him back in the spring. Boy, was Joe sweating after that one.
Basher, are you the same guy that I met on the pitcher’s mound in Sept. 1995?
Take a ‘lude, buddy. It’s not like you have $30K on this game.
Do you?
I’m still your worst enemy, Cubs!
We’re going to get LaTroy a save.
Thought I’d get into the act. I told Lee and Alou to go. I need to get my average of runners throw out at home up. I’m a 5’6 pile of uselss space that is trying to drive Cub fans buggy. I definitely am succeedding at that.
A new way of getting out of 2nd and 3rd with one out. The Cubs just found me.
I’m having a base running seminar this weekend. It’s only $79.99 to sign up.
What in god’s name did that midget do this time?
Huh? Alou picked off at home, catcher to third.
Never gonna happen.
Yeah, CT, I come from the school of hard knocks, ya softy!
Wheeeeeee!
I say we play Bako and Goodwin every day!
Did I really bat?
Two out of three ain’t bad.
Please leave.
So, I knew what was going to happen, too!
Now, we’re an hour ahead. Oooooh.
Plus we are up a game in the lose column against the Giants. So it is like we are leading.
#190 – Okay tough guy, and what professional team do you manage? I’m sure you approach works well on your 6 year old’s T-ball team.
What a dork, this new host. Anybody miss me?
Yeah, you GOT to light a fire under their ass!
I manage my son’s handball team, of course!
BEEGE! I’m coming for you!
I bet you just got on the Cub bandwagon about last September. Do everyone a favor here at 65.254.242.186 and jump off head first. Probably could jump ass first that way you land on you brain.
Smells like shit
Kudos to Andy Dolan for a great name for a great website.
CT,
I think if Basher had his way we’d see the following players benched:
Patterson
Garciaparra
Sosa
Alou
Ramirez
Lee
Barrett
Grudz
Walker
Bako
Macias
Goodwin
Ramon Martinez
Hollandsworth
Wood
Prior
Clement
Zambrano
Maddux
Remlinger
Borowski
Hawkins
Dempster
Farnsworth
Rusch
Wellemeyer
Mitre
Oh, and Baker would have been fired April 3, 2003.
But they’d all learn their lesson, right, Basher?
People like to pick on B.C. for every little inane thing he says, but you always know when it’s him posting. Brian Crozier’s OK in my book.
And he’s nowhere near the assclown basher is.
That’s right. It really hurt us to play me in center today.
That Dusty, he’s a real moran.
Hey Dolan, check the IP on basher, I’ll bet it’s me!
TJ,
At this point I think that people mostly just pick on Crozier because they think it’s some sort of funny running joke to do so.
True enough. The fact he’s so young feeds it a bit.
I know you guys like sucking Baker’s nuts for some reason or another, but let’s just see where we end up in the next couple months.
Let’s just see how many dumbass moves Dusty makes and all of you included will be bitching about them.
Didn’t know I had a posse! Wow, who’s in that posse with me?
I’m having a hard time picking myself up after that tough loss.
….
….
CT,
Welcome to my posse. To think we both shuddered at the thought of Larry Bowa back in Cub pinstripes…
There’s always Charles Graner and Lynddie England. With their methods of punishment, I doubt Remlinger would ever throw the pitch he threw to Branyan ever again.
TJ, Thanks, do I get a uniform or a hat or something?
Did I knock up Lynndie England?
Damn.
lets hope the cubs get on a roll starting today.
Thank you! Chinese Apes.

I have an extreme dislike for vague, confused, and oracular writing; and I have very little patience with authors who express themselves in this style.
