58 homers. 174 RBI, .281/.370/.468 in 310 games as a DH. (Also 1-for-7 with four walks and 2 SF and a HR as a pinch hitter for a DH)

I  first saw Frank Robinson when his McClymonds High School basketball team came across the Bay to play my high school varsity team in the early 1950's.  I don't remember every player on the McClymonds team, but in addition to Robinson there was a guy named Bill Russell.  Guess who won.  No, there is no surprise Cinderella story ending to this post.

p.s. My high school team that lost to McClymonds won the San Francisco city championship.
