Does Northern play Illinois this year?

Sept. 18th in Champaign.

I hope we lose.

2 brothers playing foosball these days?

No more foosball - just me being bitter at my school's shitty football program.

To a directional school?!?

I'm sick of our football team. It's a joke. Something needs to change - maybe losing to NIU would help. They've been better than us almost every year except the Rose Bowl year since I can remember, anyway.

Thin:  Candelite, Pete's, D'Agostinos

Deep Dish/Pan:  Lou Malnati's (FYC), Giordanos.

I'm ashamed to admit I've nevr had Pequods.  That shit's gotta change, and soon.

I can add to the Pequod group's claims. It's incredible and very unique.

Looks like our Pizza thread got ratto'd. Just wanted to add that I finally had Pequod's. And I ordered it again 2 days after.
Best pizza I've had in Chicago. Lots of sauce. Great crust. They don't overdo the cheese. Perfect.

Pequod's is indeed the best.

Best frozen pie: Home Run Inn. $11 for two of those delicious bastards at your local Costco. And if you really want to stick it to the man you can pack the leftovers in your fanny pack for your next Cubs game.

Check out Home Run Inn's ultra thin Margherita pizza. It's delicious as hell and it's not as greasy as their other ones.

Knock yourself out.

I, for one, look forward to watching Nebraska get its ass kicked on a weekly basis in the Big 10.

......You go right ahead. Nebraska's defense is outstanding, and Bo Pelini is a great coach. If they can make any kind of improvement on offense, they'd be in the upper echelon of the Big 10/11/14/16. Maybe not as good as Ohio State, Iowa, or maybe Penn State, but capable of hanging with those three and beating most of the others.

I agree with this. Maybe one day they'll be as good as Northwestern. (ducks)

They still get to play Illinois. So that should be hilarious.

I'm not panning this pick because it sure seems like forecasting success at the major league level is absurdly hard, but...

Quote
Look to Chicago for the draft's biggest early surprise -- Hayden Simpson. No one was on him at No. 17 overall. Simpson, our No. 191 prospect on our Top 200, was our preseason Division II pitcher of the year, and he was the pitcher of the year at Division II. But Simpson is a big surprise as a 6-foot, 170-pound righthander whose velocity parks at 92-94 mph, and he lost just two games in three seasons. Still, many scouts had Simpson in as a middle reliever.
Baseball America

I don't know if all 200 of those guys were draft eligible or if it includes guys currently in the minors, but assuming the former, that's an ugly number.

However, look to the comments for INSIDE INFORMATION:

This guy is as ligit as they come. Dont buy into the scouting reports, i was in the stands when he struck out 13 against Florida Southern in the regional. First pitch was 97-98 on some of the stalkers.
He can throw 4 pitches for strikes when ever he pleases.  He didn't throw a pitch under 93-94 the whole night and touched 96-7 many times.  Hammer curve. bulldog and athletic. looks like lincecum and could be.

I'm going to assume we have the next Lincecum on our hands. Go Cubs!

We had the original Lincecum on our hands, too, but didn't wave enough cash pizza money at him to skip college.

Ban this, penishead.

Who is Don Brodka in that discussion? Nice work TJ, entertaining comments by all.

My guess is the guy who's already used two separate Simpsons related aliases here at Desipio.

Yay. everyone is unbanned.

Problem solved. Until we say something else that gets us banned - not that I have anything else to say.
4752  General Category / Desipio Lounge / Re: Pollyellon banned me on: June 08, 2010, 03:11:50 PM
I've just actually read through Yellon's Hawks tripe.

Holy shit.

10 of the 16 paragraphs he wrote talk about the Cubs.

It's almost as if he has no understanding of hockey or the Hawks whatsoever except through analogy with the Cubs.

That was my take.  The entire article was couched in the context of a Cubs fan.  Real insightful, that was.

A great way to endear yourself to a larger audience, half or more of which hates the Cubs, is to talk about the Cubs. This Al is a real savvy son of a bitch.

At least I got my parting shot in: Why was my comment deleted?

OOOH I was so out of line.
4754  General Category / Desipio Lounge / Re: Pollyellon banned me on: June 08, 2010, 02:24:09 PM
My innocuous comment about Chelios not being a Cub fan was also deleted. But I have not been banned.

EDIT: Yes I have.

Wait...

Al Yellon and George Castle?

This is a veritable sports publishing juggernaut.

Wonder if Herr Yellon has read enough SCH to know that from time to time they have to call out their readers and commenters to prevent their site from turning into BCB?

IIRC, he's read enough to tattle to SCH's superiors about a bit of bad-mouthing he once received at the hands of Fork and McClure.

Plenty of Al Bashing to be found here:

So please, don't dismiss someone's thoughts simply because you don't see them comment a lot.  You wanna do that?  Al Yellon will be happy to have you.
