OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

The Washington Football Team re-named itself.  I think that the Chicago Cubs should be re-branded with something that better describes them.  The Chicago Tax Shelters is a reasonably accurate description.  Please post your suggestions.

Now I hear "Manana, manana, manana is good enough for me..."    Road movie?  I think so.

... I also keep missing episodes of "The Secret Life of Welsh Food."

Tonk can bring you up to speed.

Is Welsh food anything like English food?   English cooking must be the worst excuse for cuisine ever "cooked up".  The English have a device on their  breakfast tables called a "toast cooler".  It is exactly what it sounds like, a metal contraption to rest your fresh toasted bread in until it cools off.  The best food in England can be found in Indian or Pakistani restaurants.

This popped up in my head this morning.
I am betting that no one else on this board remembers this.

... The TV lineup Friday night was so bad that I paid $3.99 to rent Zardoz for 48 hours.

I wonder what kind of mentality it takes to find "Bluebloods" to be entertainment?

I woke up this morning with "set an open course for the Virgin Sea" (fucking Slackbox). I checked, and that is actually the line. But it doesn't seem to have any meaning in the context of seafaring.

It might not have a meaning in seafaring, but it is damn poetic.  It evokes the image of the Enterprise at the introduction of "Star Trek".

On-Hoops.com / Rodney MacGruder Piston's Enforcer?
January 31, 2021, 08:24:35 PM
I am a Warrior fan and took great delight in the disrespect shown by the Warriors to Rodney McGruder.  Klay Thompson is recovering from a series of injuries so the Warriors made him a part time commentator.  He had a classic about McGruder who was trying to be menacing.  But it was Draymond Green in an after the game interview who really had some choice words for McGruder.

Desipio Lounge / Re: Ricketts Family Annoyance Thread

Deadspin ranks the Ricketts among the top idiots of the year:

"Picking any MLB owner over another one for this esteemed honor is truly sticking your hand in a pile of goo and trying to guess this chunk might be. But the Ricketts family has been particularly foul in every way, from incompetence to malice to their tightwad handling of the Cubs. They rolled out their new network along with societal pox Sinclair, and it had all the production value and creativity of a college station at 3am. They tried to claim that 70% of their revenue was lost thanks to having no fans. They?ve spent two years not adding to their contending team, and crying poor and threatening to strip it down because they can?t afford it, even though they laugh about their ballpark and neighborhood improvements running $500 million over budget. One of them was the fundraising chair for Donald Trump. They got landmark status for Wrigley which will get them tens of millions in tax breaks, and yet still held the city of Chicago up for a delay on a $250,000 payment on minor improvements on the property around Wrigley until 2024. They are the crystalized symbol of modern sports wealth?incompetence feeling entitled thanks to money they had nothing to do with earning and utterly shocked that the majority don?t see the world the way they do, and yet facing no consequences for any of it."

I had THE DREAM again, or a version of it.  The one where I am back in college and I have to get to a final exam but I can't find the room or the building where the exam was being given.  Only last night in THE DREAM I had five term papers to write and only three days to get them all done.  Furthermore, I didn't have a typewriter (remember I was in college 65 or seventy years ago and personal computers hadn't been invented.)  Why can't I have the dream where I can fly anymore?

I had a dream last year, brought on by a distraught parent whose tween daughter had stopped listening to her, that my son was 12 years old and hated me. Thing about it was, I actually didn't remember the dream after I woke up. I got up, took my son to his daycare for a half day, and as I dropped him off, I realized I couldn't shake a nagging feeling I had and that I'd possibly had a dream about him. It wasn't until he came home from daycare a few hours later that I remembered it, and when it hit me, I just started sobbing. For about an hour.

Stress dreams suck.

Treasure these days.  My sons are all adults.  I have the feeling that I missed their childhoods.

Woke this morning around 8:00 a.m.  Had breakfast; cleaned the canary's cage; took out the trash;  watered the tomato plants;  filled the divots left by the raccoons in the backyard.  Then I turned on the TV to watch some NFL games.  Then I remembered that it was Saturday, not Sunday.  Damn this pandemic!  Can't tell one weekend day from the other.
