OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Long time listener, rare poster...

Headed to STL with the family (3 that are 6 or younger) to sweat it out this weekend.  Actually attempting to go to the game on Friday night.  Any tips to Busch Stadium with kids?  This will be my first (most likely only) time to a game in STL.

We found out that we can bring in water/snacks for them.  I saw there's a family area where I'm hoping they can burn some energy before we head to our seats. Assume just park in one of the lots/garages near the stadium?

Any recs on family friendly stuff on Saturday?  We're going to do the zoo in the morning before the heat hits its peak.  We're staying out in St. Charles.  Looking at Salt and Smoke for dinner Saturday night, but open to suggestions if you guys have any (doing hot dogs at the stadium with the kids on Friday night).

TIA!

I've liked Bemo's in Cottleville for food, but I don't remember it being super kid friendly. There's a donut place in St Peters (Old Town Donuts) that's pretty damn good. If you want a chocolate long john that's like 10 inches long, it's your spot.

Parking-wise, yea, lot/garage near the stadium. It's pretty easy to get out of there actually. I recall using a garage northeast of the stadium (Broadway/Clark).

SKO is right about accessibility. St Louis may be all the shitty things it is, but it's more convenient for kids than others would be. More convenient than I imagine Wrigley would be (we haven't done it with kids, yet)

Who doesn't enjoy a ten-inch chocolate long john?  I know I do.

I haven't had one since the Cubs traded Soler.

Nice.

Thanks all for the advice/info!

Only was able to eat there once as a child (early 90s sometime), but it was fun.  My grandfather grew up at 3110 N. Damen (family owned the building until the mid-80s), and frequented the joint during their time.

For any of you in the Western 'burbs, I highly recommend 'Los Dos' in Downers Grove.  It's in a strip mall behind a Fmaily Video (I'd love to know how those places stay open)...amazing pulled pork tacos...and if you get anything other than the house made corn tortillas you're a Paul.

My understanding is it's a family operation, with a husband/wife at the head.  Husband's from around here, wife is from the Yucatan area of Mexico.

They have daily specials posted to Facebook...I grabbed the shrimp ceviche for 9.75 today.

It was nice to let MLB let the Big XII crew take over umpiring this game for bit, then confused the LA Dodgers for Texa$$$

What

Jokes made from a POV not shared by the majority are hard to pull off.

Maybe a generalized PAC12 referee crew - widely recongnized as having terrible moments - reference would have landed better?

Great read by Josh Noel (among other things, a beer writer for the Trib) on NEIPAs...

Sounds like Corridor has some good ones. I've never been.  If you're in the burbs, Noon Whistle (Lombard) makes some great NEIPAs (their 'Gummy' series), and Mikerphone in Elk Grove is making their mark in the style, as well.  Other options include Hop Butcher for the World (Galaxy Bowl), Maplewood and Hailstorm (in Tinely Park).

The way I see it is you'd demote him to Iowa if you felt he needed to learn something or if he was blocking someone better. Considering Happ is already cooling off and might need to go back himself there's not a ton of organizational depth in the outfield. If you demote Schwarber you're probably playing Bryant every day in left and Javy at 3rd, but Javy largely looks good because Joe picks his spots and his matchups still. When he plays every day he tends to struggle. You're just robbing from Peter to pay Paul.

Shut up Paul, you're a douche.

I'm kind of surprised this show has lasted as long as it has, and according to this source, has been renewed for a 5th season:

http://www.denofgeek.com/us/tv/vikings/253865/vikings-season-5-release-date-and-other-news

At times the show can draw me in, and at others the writing is extremely basic and loses me completely.  However, I'm getting to the point where I was with Sons of Anarchy...I've watched it to this point...I'm going to see it through to the end, damn it.

If anyone likes this show, you may like The Last Kingdom on Netflix.  I'm 6 episodes in there, and am still enjoying it.

Interesting article for any other beer nerds out there...heard the author on Good Beer Hunting's podcast from 3/31/17 (interesting listen for some viewpoints on the industry in general).

Supposedly Chicago is the most distributed to craft beer market in the country.

Saw last week that Odell was expanding distribution east, and coming to Illinois.

Good news for everyone.  A very solid brewery.

This is good news.
Toppling Goliath also seems to be getting their product in to the Chicago area too.

This is great freaking news. I have a friend in Iowa who mails their stuff to me every so often.

Not sure if this will take any wind out of your sails, but the TG stuff we're getting in Chicago is brewed in Lakeland, FL through a company called Brew Hub (link: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/brew-hub-announces-partnership-with-toppling-goliath-300064772.html).

It's actually an interesting business model.  Die hards will probably say the beer isn't the same, but normal folks will enjoy it, and it increases production volume for breweries without capital investment.

Jesus fuck NONE of this was about The Nice Guys

This had me chortling in my cube.

Just watched the movie a little while ago.  I thought it was hilarious.  Probably a darker/very dry humor (I thought some of the style was in line with The Big Lebowski - which is high praise in my book).  A few subtle, quick, one-liners that deliver if you pick up on them.  I kept telling my wife as we were watching it that Reynolds and Crowe had to have had a blast making this movie...

And finding baby sitters sucks.  We have 3 and really only trust 1 set of grandparents with them...

I love the fact that every start this season has gone at least 6 innings, and it only gets tougher from there.

I also wish I could come up with an entertaining nickname for Trevor Cahill, but "Pillsbury Throwboy" has already been used.

One of the best things they did was drop the story line with Philip and the underage daughter of the CIA dude. That was gross.

100% agree...it was practically unwatchable.
