OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Desipio Lounge / Play with my fantasy balls
March 19, 2011, 05:08:36 PM
...or something

Just realized since I'm not in the Desipio Keeper League, I don't have a league this year.  So I slapped one together.

We're doing a gamecast tonight over at Fisted Foul for the All-Star Game.  One of us will be there all night, the other is going to some pussy softball game at 8:30.

So basically it will be fun from 7 to 8:30 and then really fun from them on.

Kerm promises to dish on his lunch with Kap and Stone.  (He didn't really promise, but we can make him do it.)

Kermit invited all of his friends to play in a fantasy league with him, and apparently he only has four friends.

So now he needs his friendly acquaintances (you guys) to join us or we're going to have the smallest AL-NL Head to Head league.  The draft?  Oh, it's tomorrow.  He loves to give people notice.

Sign up ogdens.

The lovely and talented (muahahaha) Cubby Julie has an eloquent post today about how she lost her purse and somebody ran up $3500 on her debit card.

http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/league-of-her-own/2010/01/dear-chase-fuck-you.html

She's apoplectic that her bank's fraud alert system would let someone blow past her limit (and her account balance) without putting a stop to it.

So obviously it must be that whatever they bought didn't seem out of character for her.  What could that be?

Desipio Lounge / Dawn of the Tyler Colvin Era

The Cubs 2006 first round pick made his debut last night with a single, a walk and an RBI.  And I have to say, he's got the worst looking swing I think I've ever seen.

So, yay?

On Sunday night at 8 p.m. the MLB Network is showing a classic game from its archives.

Cubs at Pirates, April 21, 1991

http://mlbnetwork.mlb.com/network/schedule/?ymd=20090111

Huh?  I mean who wouldn't die for the chance to see Mike Harkey v. Randy Tomlin?

Check out the Cubs' starting lineup:

Jerome Walton, cf
Ryne Sandberg, 2b
Mark Grace, 1b
George Bell, lf
Andre Dawson, rf
Shawon Dunston, ss
Gary Scott, 3b
Erik Pappas, c
Mike Harkey, p

Other Cubs' luminaries who appear in the game: Luis Salazar, Doug Dascenzo, Dwight Smith, the now dead Dave Smith, Chuck McElroy, Heathcliff Slocumb, Jose Vizcaino, Paul Assenmacher and, of course, the StyleMaster Mike Bielecki.

The Pirates are at their Bonds-Van Slyke-Bonilla best.

Why this game?  It ends 13-12 (you can probably guess who wins).  Dawson does most of the heavy lifting, but if you miss the final inning (the 11th, you'll miss a five run Cubs rally in the top of the inning wiped out by a six run rally by the Pirates.)

I will not watch this.  It's lame.  (I'll DVR it instead.)

Getting closer, maybe.

And unless he lost it all in the market in the last four months, it's probably this guy:

All it took was 110 pitches in Milwaukee against the Astros (huh?) and no fucking hits.

Carlos is the balls.

Desipio Lounge / Pollyellon banned me
May 20, 2008, 08:41:47 AM
I read this tripe today on his site and wanted to comment on it.

QuoteIt made the highlight reels, but what wasn't said at the time is that Felix Pie would have made that catch in a routine manner, because Pie would have been playing deeper to begin with and because Pie is faster than Edmonds. It's been said that Edmonds deliberately plays shallow so he can make these catches look harder than they really are, and I think there's something to that.

Far be it from me to defend Jim Edmonds on anything, but what a crock of shit.  Felix plays as shallowly as Edmonds, and yeah, he'd have gotten back there faster but as much as I still don't like Lassie that was a hell of a catch.

So, I was going to post and instead I saw this:

I don't even remember my post about the photos.  It was something about that creep who takes shots from 400 feet away in the right field bleachers and posts them like they're art.  But come on.

Al's skin is so thin you see his bones.

Desipio Lounge / Mark Mulder sploogefest
September 05, 2007, 09:02:42 PM
He's still going, but so far:

3 IP
8 hits
6 runs
6 earned
1 walk
1 K
1 HR (3-run shot by Ronny Paulino)
18.00 ERA

He has gotten Cesar Izturis out three times, though.  So he's got that going for him.

Desipio Lounge / Phil Rogers' time machine
February 23, 2007, 08:21:18 AM
In the second page of today's "column" on Felix Pie by Phil Rogers, Phil apparently invents a time machine:

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-070222rogers,1,1416741.column?page=2&coll=cs-home-headlines

Quote[Pie] almost played alongside Sammy Sosa in 2004 but suffered a bone bruise sliding into third base on a triple just before circumstances forced Hendry to make a call to Double-A for two outfielders, Murton and the unfortunate Adam Greenberg (hit in the head with the first pitch he saw in the big leagues and still trying to get back) got the call while Pie slowly healed.

Uh...um...since the Cubs didn't trade for Matt Murton until July 31, 2004, and the Florida call-ups of Murton and Greenberg happened just before the All-Star Break in 2005, how could any of this be true?

Phil just confused Sammy Sosa with Jeromy Burnitz.  This...fellas...is why Phil makes the big bucks.

Boobtube / Arrested Development
February 15, 2005, 02:04:32 PM
If you don't hear from me for a few days, it's because I just bought the Arrested Development DVDs of the first season.

Oh, how I love this show.  Can't wait to relive the first season.  In fact, I'm pretty sure I missed a few early ones along the way.

...that the Cubs are going to replace the Dodgers in the three-way Randy Johnson trade, shipping Sammy, the Farns and Angel Guzman to Arizona and getting Javier Vazquez.

http://www.all-baseball.com/willcarroll/archives/016763.html#more

The trade would make Javy Vazquez the Cubs' $13.5 million fifth starter, or they'll try and trade him to some other sucker.

Paging, Kenny Williams!  Paging, Kenny Williams!

Worst...thread...ever.
