OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

I concede that it's basically impossible to convince anyone to do anything on the internet, but if:

1) you're looking for something to watch
2) you enjoy really well-written drama
3) have any sort of interest in technology and/or the 80s/90s

You really should watch this show. I think the first three seasons are on Netflix. The fourth and final season just wrapped up.

It took the place of Mad Men as AMC's period drama. I believe the first season was sort of critically panned although I enjoyed it in spite of the flaws. I remember reading that it's a miracle that they lasted four seasons and after watching the last few seasons, I'm not sure why.

It did change quite a bit over the last three seasons. But, frankly, it's one of the best shows in terms of characters that I can recall. I prefer it to Mad Men because I find the arcs a lot more believable. I got a lot more invested in the characters. And frankly, I got a little choked up a few times during the last few episodes. One of which is hands down the most authentic depiction of post death/grieving/moving on that I can recall seeing ... anywhere?

It's not a show that you could just jump into and get a lot of enjoyment. It's a slower burn. You would need to see the entire story from beginning to end to appreciate the epilogue.

Watch it. Or don't. But seriously. Watch it.

I don't really know how to describe this other than it's really good. It's a new Netflix sci-fi/horror/mystery series that pays a lot of homage to the 80s era films. Think lots of Goonies and ET with some Stephen King and Spielberg mixed in. Maybe a little Explorers and Stand By Me, too.

That formula (Look! Nostalgia!) should wear thin over the course of 8 hours, but it really doesn't get tired here. Winona Ryder is the headliner. My wife didn't like her acting, but I didn't think it was terrible. Matthew Modine has a pretty small but prominent part. The only other castmember I recognized was David Harbour who plays Reed Ackley on Manhattan. After his intro scene in episode one where he does the "wake up in a shithole and drink a beer" routine, I was prepared for him to be a total cliche but I really ended up enjoying his character arc.

But the real reason to watch it is the kids who just absolutely crush it with their performances. They all come across as "80's kids" which is impressive considering they're slightly older than YouTube. So, there's probably a lot to be said for the job of the Director(s) in that respect.

Anyway, it's really good.

I'm maybe drunker than Hello World right now, and just slaughtered some pretenders in kickball, but I can still use spell check. This show gives Bojack a run for its money. These things are known.

It's really good.

This was surprisingly ... good? Good might be too strong, but it was intriguing and kept me interested -- especially considering it airs on USA and has Christian Slater in a key role. It felt more like something you'd see on FX. Or a low-grade premium network like Starz or Cinemax.

It could very well end up being some sort of Fight Club knockoff, but it's one of the few "hacker" shows/films where the computer stuff wasn't a bunch of techno-jargon nonsense. Some of it is, but it's nice to see hackers using a command-line and social-engineering instead of some sort of 3D "flying through a computer, RAMming the firewall with my virus cookies to get the secret encrypted boot ethernet port" interface.

Rami Malek was believable, too. I couldn't remember where I'd seen him before, but he was Snafu in The Pacific.

Edit: Also, "fingerblasting" gets used.

I watched this movie. It was a good movie.

It was amazing seeing the transition of Hawking over 30-ish years all played completely convincingly by the same actor. The actress who played Jane was a real pretty lady, too.

Seriously, though, I sort of forgot I was watching an actor playing Stephen Hawking and there was a split second where I thought, "Man, Stephen Hawking is a pretty good actor."

They don't make a lot of movies like Wolfcop any more. I would watch more movies if they did.

Fred Phelps is about to find out just how special that place in hell will be. Good fucking riddance.

Also noteworthy, per Fred's son, Nate:

QuoteI've learned that my father, Fred Phelps, Sr., pastor of the "God Hates Fags" Westboro Baptist Church, was ex-communicated from the "church" back in August of 2013.

Very awesome show if you like interconnected back-stories, mysteries, Twin Peaks, occasional French boobs, stuff with subtitles, or generally great television.

Basically a handful of people who died at various times 5-30 years ago reappear in a French town with no knowledge that they died and try to resume their lives. Cue laughtrack.

I'm only halfway through the first season, but am completely hooked. I genuinely got goose bumps for the first time watching a TV show in I-don't-know-how-long after the 4th episode's reveal involving Victor.

You may need to go to your local torrent site to grab it. Or you can wait until CBS options it if you want to see a watered-down version with less skin, ham-fisted exposition, and fashionably-attired people in the rural Pacific Northwest speaking good ol' American.

I forced MDickens to watch this, so I've had the fortune of having a good reason to watch it all over. Since the last thread was Ratto'd and it's still the fukkin' balls, here we go with another thread. And the reason why I thought to post this was to point out that Oleg looks like Horseface.

TDubbs, could you please rent this and tell me if it's worth watching to see Mrs. Coach's glistening sweaterchops?
