We already know that Gojira is fucking awesome. I hadn't heard their album entitled Terra Incognita until recently and there's a song on there called Satan is a Lawyer that's fantastic. I'll try and find a link to the song when I get home from work but I think it's about Miroslav Satan and his other profession. I could be wrong. Maybe it's about a guy named Stan and they made a typo. Could be any number of things, really.

Just heard Gojira for the first time a few weeks ago.  I'm going to make good on that Neurosis recommendation from Jon later today.  I've been having me a good old fashioned musical renaissance here lately.  Good times a-plenty!

For Neurosis, I would highly recommend From Silver In Blood. It's about perfect as a post-metal-ambiant-folk-tribal-doom-anger-hate can get.
Take that, Adolf Eyechart.

Today I re-re-rediscovered Unquestionable Presence by Atheist.

Jazzy Death Metal from Florida. Pity the album cover is queerer than Yeti during Bear Week.

The first 30 seconds of the second link sounds like NES boss fight music to me.

If you guys are looking for more doom/drone, ever try Agalloch?  They can sound extreme at times, but hey, this is the metal thread, right?  No need for disclaimers here.  Difficult to pick one song to link, but I'll go with -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQitsTvGvko.  Like most drone, it can take awhile to go anywhere.  But if you stick around long enough, you will be rewarded.  The riff at 2:33 sets the tone for the rest of the song.

I've been having decent luck with Redemption lately.  It's a project from some of the guys from Fates Warning and Agent Steel.  The sound is more of that laid back DT-ish prog.  It isn't blowing my socks off or anything, but makes for a very nice listen.

Speaking of decent luck, I'm just now getting back into last.fm.  I tried their radio and I was insta-hooked.  So much great trance/chillout/downtempo that I've never dreamed of hearing before.  And reggae!  Even their salsa station rules!  So awesome.  I know I'm behind the times, but shit, count me glad to be where I'm at.

Though it's already turning into a Mastodon Friday, I urge you, fine readers of this thread, to check out Shrinebuilder.

Jon, I will sell you in short order - Scott Kelly is in this band.

Between the Buried and Me is incredible. I thought they were some kind of metalcore shit, but I was wrong. WRONG.

They are some kind of death prog action from Crazyville. It's fucking kickass.

Bort, go get you some immediately. Start with the album Colors and go forth.
