If you didn't think Jeff Beck had any new tricks up his sleeve (I didn't), give the new album a listen. Best thing he's done in a quarter century.

Jeff Beck rarely wears sleeves.

The Shelters is pretty cool, despite being produced by Tom Petty.

I've been loving the new Tweed Funk.

Don't even care that it's basically recycled Tower of Power.

Also, since this thread has basically become notes I make to myself, the "Americana" album that Ray Davies made with the Jayhawks is OK. I've given up hope on him and Dave everr getting back in the studio to see if they can still rock.

I'm sure they are no surprise to anyone here, but I'm really into the Decemberists. I'd listened to them in the past, and thought that Colin Meloy was accomplished, but it wasn't until their most recent album ("What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World") that they really struck a chord with me. Particularly the song 12-17-12 feels pretty much like it was written for me. If you're a parent, you'll probably agree.
