Hey 180 thanks for stealing my name. That one game you refer to…the team that loses it has lost 24 of 28 series in the NLDS (86%). How are we chicken little fans when we’re faced with a 14% chance of success.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not giving up, but I’m in no position to criticize people for preparing for the worst. The regular season means approximately DICK once you get to the post season.

Common Sense
on October 1, 2008 at 9:20 pm
@ Andy You have to admit that was a weak ass atmosphere at Wrigley tonight. You would have thought it was getaway day playing the Reds in mid-August. And at no point did I say it was the fans fault they lost. I just think that it is one game (14% stat aside), and I think this year is different. This team is built to win and I think they will get tomorrow’s game behind Z.
Z?

The same guy who shits his pants in anything remotely resembling a big game?
If Lilly or Harden took the mount tomorrow, I might sleep tonight. But not with that mongoloid on the hill.
Speaking of pitching, it’s a piss poor feeling to have a 17 game winner on the mound and be clamoring for Marquis to come in.

Good lord, what a bunch of pussies. It’s one freakin’ game.
The Cubs

When’s the first playoff game? We want to start out strong and not have the series over before it starts like last year.

Bullshit. The true fans know a bunch of choking fucking dogs when they see them. That’s why they fucking clammed up. They knew that fucking game was over after the slam. It was over because this team has no fucking heart.
Anybody can fucking rally in a fucking regular season game against a steaming pile of crap like Colorado or a sucktastic Milwaukee bullpen.
A fucking championship ballclub sacks up and gets it done in the postseason. 97 wins don’t mean fucking dick in October.

Dempster couldn’t find the plate, period. He got squeezed more than once, but it’s hard to get calls when the rest of your pitches aren’t close. Lowe had a tight zone, too, and he managed to make pitches.
Dempster rode a carriage into tonight’s game, and it turned back into a pumpkin. He’s still what he always was: a pitcher with good stuff and little control. We were just fooled into believing he had changed.
And yeah, LA sent their ace tonight, but the next two out of the gate aren’t slouches, by any means. This is going to be a long, uphill climb and I don’t think Z’s a hiker.

It is so frustrating to watch this team do so many great things all season and watch the same team fail to show up in the playoffs. In the postgame Lou said this is only the first game, don’t worry about the offense not showing up. Actually Lou it’s the fourth game. I still have faith that we will turn it around. If we don’t then Hendry needs to get guys who DON’T choke in the playoffs

Yeah, lets blame hendry for paying too much attention on performance and not anticipating the psychological fragility of the all-stars that compose this 97-win team.

You are spot on. That place was DEAD even with the Cubs up two runs early. They even mentioned it on the tv broadcast repeatedly. For game 2, let’s hope Cubs fans sack up and at least act like they want to be there instead of being a bunch of scared pussies.

I’ve thrown more pitches in the ninth than Cole Hamels threw in the first eight.
I suck.
Is there any way we can get to the NLCS? Please?
I’ve got Fukky batting 2nd and The Riot batting 8th tonight.
Derrek Lee said a few words to the team… I hope he was telling them how not to hit into double plays.
Soriano LF
Fukudome RF
Lee 1B
Ramirez 3B
Soto C
Edmonds CF
DeRosa 2B
Theriot SS
Dempster P
To say I’m in my normal dementia ridden state would be an understudy.
Good Christ, I’m fat.
Furcal SS
Martin C
Ramirez LF
Ethier RF
Loney 1B
Kemp CF
DeWitt 2B
Blake 3B
Lowe P
Actually, I’m Dick Stockton’s understudy.
BRRRRAVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
my show sucks thats y we have 100 commercials
Commercial count (since 1st pitch): 1
I am pretty close to going to the mute button already on Dick, Ron and Tony…
Hi Derek Lowe!
I heard Lee saying he could do this better than I could.
im only gonna call strikes if there down the middle
I tried the SAP function and it’s silent. Soy triste!
I have a name, 17!
And a strike zone as small as my package.
always a good thing
Is the crowd dead? That might have been the quietest I have heard Wrigley all season… I know it was the first inning, but NOTHING from the crowd that inning…
Sounds like our crowd mic is set differently than other networks’.
very dead..suprised there isnt a crowd behind left field
we suck
I am reading this gamecast.
I can’t tell the difference between a slider and a fastball
Hopefully ginger beard can keep this up
Stockton said Jim Edmonds was under that one… I had to burst out laughing when I heard that…
I am apparently even worse in HD.
ill call low pitches strikes for lowe but not demp..i hate canadians
The Cubs have the best record in the major leagues.
Fuck Yes
why is saved by the bell not on?
De Ro. With a mini woof
Suck on that Furcal.
I own this ****ing stadium.
Mark DeRosa only needs about 13 more postseason homers to make up for that horrible double play last year.
I do not appreciate the fake jumbotron.
The best part was watching all the fans in the anti-bartman seats shirk as far back as possible.
I’ve missed about 7 called strikes already
This strike zone is smaller than my puckered asshole.
this ump sucksssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
This home plate umpire can go home to L.A. now. Good grief.
Throw it near the fucking plate!
We’re completely oblivious to the strike zone too
Who needs to throw strikes?
Which announcers are the least painful. The TV people are useless. Ron is annoying me, plus they seem to be about 6 seconds ahead. ESPN radio is synched up, but they have Jon Miller instead of Dan Schulman, who would have been, you know, actually good.
First running catch I’ve made all year
I’m on the Cubs side right now.
I don’t know the difference between Lou and Joe Torre.
I really have no range at all.
We have no idea how manny influence Ethier
We are large, and numerous.
If MLB wants this game to go 5 hours, they are getting what they want. Dear goodness… We’re not even through the third and the game is already more than an hour old.
Really?
Aramis Ramirez with his best DPLee imitation right there.
Torre’s Dodgers beat Piniella’s Mariners.
I tought Jon Miller everything he knows.
Glad to see TBS did nothing to stop me since last year.
I wonder how i got my nickname.
I don’t think TBS knows how to stop me, 59.
I can’t form a single coherant thought by myself so I’ll simply repeat what whatever Pat says.
I keep hearing an echo in here!
Love you Man Ram!
Lets look at Mark DeRosa playing space invaders
Perhaps TBS thinks Cubs fans find us endearing.
time for an 8 minute one of me
Dick Stockton or Chip Caray?
There are no winners here.
are takin so long im playin madden during them 5 min quaters and i have 45 sec left in 4th qtr wow
Good lord…why would anyone swing with this ump out there.
Looks like he is a little nervous.
Throw some f***ing strikes.
This is almost unwatchable…The nibbling Dempster we came to hate as a closer is on the mound tonight.
We’re going to get a work out today.
again
Maybe is hoping for a base hit that will cause Manny to pull a hammy trying to score.
How ’bout . . . holy cow . . . I don’t believe it.
Hello!
At least I didn’t walk Loney.
is on ESPN 2. Nothing says October like WNBA Finals
Jesus fucking Christ I suck.
Nobody rocks the DP quite like me. NOBODY!!!!!
Another fucking GIDP? What good are you to this team?
We’re a fucking embarrassment. 97 wins and can’t get out of our own way against a team with 84 fucking victories and a pathetic lineup. Fuck this shit.
I’m a useless piece of shit in a big game.
Damn fucking right we’re booing. This shit is intolerable.
I scare the crap out of cub pitchers
Get me up in the pen.
Why the fuck didn’t I start this game?
We’re a bunch of pussies
Because if you didn’t pitch a shutout it wouldn’t have mattered? Dempster could have given up 200 runs for all this fucking offense is going to do.
My work the corners philosophy is really working well tonight.
I definitely won’t be hyped up and overthrowing tomorrow night if we’re down a game.
No way.
Not me.
Never.
I didn’t realize I was such a difficult feat to overcome.
Maybe you should let me pitch too. I’m doing everything.
We need to get some hits, get some guys on base and get some runs.
I Sure am crowded already
All right…my first postseason hit in my last 30 ABs!
No for the Dodgers. Yes for the Cubs
I WILL END THIS NOW!
There’s nothing like overreacting to every little thing and letting your emotions get out of control. Nothing like it.
Three pitches.
I’m much more generous when Derek Lowe is on the mound.
It was 2-1 after three pitches…
Can we play tomorrow’s game in Milwaukee?
Swing at us you assholes
The Cubs are me
Suck on us you assholes
I pick now to have my worst game of the year, not last week in Milwaukee when it didnt matter
I suck.
What do you think, 1 run over 8 innings tomorrow?
This series is over Saturday night.
And prematurely. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO0000000OOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!11!!!11!!
Why is Manny seeing me?
You’ll be seeing me soon. This is over.
I like beer and brats. Here we come Milwaukee!!!
Pass the rheumatiz medicine, Granny.
It’s me all over again.
The Cubs can’t handle me.
give me a break…that bender was at his ankles!!!
Who’s ready to hear me sing again?
Anyone who didn’t see this coming was fantasizing. We’re the Cubs. This is what we do.
This board is full of them…
Doesn’t mean we’re wrong.
So’s the Cubs lineup.
yeah I’ll take the strike and swing at the ball.
Holy shit, contact!
We would have finished 5th in your division behind the Tardinals, Bitches.
If I were used, proven post-season busts would not be put in the lineup. Especially in the lead-off spot.
I will ground into a double play to lead off the eighth
Baaaaaa! If you haven’t heard yet I’m being kept in a beer garden at secret location in Milwaukee. Baaaaa! Baaaaa!
True story . . .
A younger version of Howry am I
Miss me yet?
Which team was 13.5 games better than the other one again?
Fuck this fucking franchise. What a fucking pathetic sickening embarrassment. I’m so fucking mad my stomach hurts.
Fuck you Dusty.
This is fucking disgusting.
to 130
I got you farther than Loo ever will.
But not as far as you should have you fucking piece of shit motherfucker.
Why are our weakest hitters backing 1st and 2nd?
Ready to see Dodger fans waving me at Game 3 on Saturday
No team has ever won with me in the leadoff spot, and no team ever will. Too bad my fragile ego prevents me from being able to hit anywhere else in the lineup.
I heard that you were getting Man Rammed in the ass by Bartman while the black cat videotapped the whole thing.
The Cubs don’t deserve to win, but my strike zone this entire game has been atrocious.
Why can’t we understand that fans don’t cheer for dogshit play? Is it really that hard to understand?
I never thought I would root for lassie this hard. Ever.
i was too busy napping to see fontenot get a pinch-hit single
I thought the ball was carrying tonight
Mine stayed in the park.
Remember, this is the year
I only carry when the Dodgers are up. Kind of a reverse Metrodome thing.
Go **** yourself #49
The biggest start of my career is tomorrow night
If was still playing for Tony I would have been on enough juice to drive that ball to Evanston.
I’m wearing my eyeliner tomorrow night.
no shit!
I can’t stop rooting for this franchise and I hate almost every minute of it. What the fuck did we do to deserve this?
How ’bout that! Jeeze . . . this, wow!
I just got turned off
No No Unbelievable. I cant grunt and sigh and groan enough
This is great radio
Then we are doomed.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED
We should have seen a sports psychologist to avoid coming completely unglued, again. Do you think he has an open appointment in the morning????
I think I just pooped my pants in frustration.
I also think our closer is named Kerry Woods!
I don’t know 153, but I don’t think I can take another season of this shit.
I’m an October tradition.
It doesn’t have to be October for me.
Quit it with the doom and gloom bullshit. This team is good and Big Z is going tomorrow.
We thought it would be a better story to not win it all 100 years later.
here’s Greg Maddux in the ninth to step on your heads while your drowning
Everything else went wrong, but at least we kept it close.
Some day we’ll go all the way. Not this year though.
opening our mouths and unzipping maddux’s pants
I agree. But can you really blame anyone? One guy on the team actually showed up tonight. Considering everything else, I’m having a hard time staying off the ledge.
I don’t pitch good in the post season. I should playing FOR the Cubs, not against them.
I hope I get the chance to bat with one out this inning.
You know we’ll score this meaningless run.
Defensive indifference, offensive indifference, pretty much sums up our performance tonight.
seriously. what a shitty game.
Z should pitch in me. Not Dempster. (If we are lucky enough to make it that far)
this announcing team makes my ears bleed.
Love it when I happen.
@ 171: Yes I can blame someone … the chicken little fans. Jesus it is one game. No wonder why the Cubs play like ass at home in the postseason. Every time they do something remotely bad, the air gets let out of the whole place. And booing the team after the game? Really classy job by the assholes that actually stayed until the end of the game (Cubs fans leaving early? I would expect that out of Rays fans but not Cubs fans). The team won 97 games this season. Get a fucking grip.
There you go Bitches!
The Cubs had a 2 run lead and didn’t do shit after that. That was the fans fault? Who are you Dusty Baker?
It doesn’t matter if you won 97 or 162. The season started all over tonight, and may have ended tonight.
How the fuck optimistic do you expect the fans to be after 100 years of this bullshit?
If you can put all of that out of your mind when you’re watching, good for you. Most people can’t.
I also blame the fans. Clearly, we just don’t want it bad enough. The Dodger fans want it more. Shame on us. We suck.
We’re a bunch of goddamn chumps.
Last year the Cubs lost the first two games in Arizona. Was that the fault of Cubs fans booing?
@ Andy You have to admit that was a weak ass atmosphere at Wrigley tonight. You would have thought it was getaway day playing the Reds in mid-August. And at no point did I say it was the fans fault they lost. I just think that it is one game (14% stat aside), and I think this year is different. This team is built to win and I think they will get tomorrow’s game behind Z.
What a crapfest this was.
the atmosphere is bound to be a little weak.
You can go eff yourselves. If these players are so emotionally fragile that they can’t build momentum themselves, then frankly they shouldn’t be here.
look at it this way…we have z, harden n lilly lined up..demp is like our third best pitcher..la used their best one..not only that BUT we had this game..if the ump called outside strikes..he made demp change his game..we shouldve won this game…dont worry tomm z will be great n then we got harden n lilly whos been hot we will win in 4!

Dear cliff jumping Cubs fans,
This is my thoughts about you
Sack up dammitt. Even those freakin n’er do-wells on the southside lost a game one during their so called playoff run that didn’t happen in ’05.
I don’t disagree. Point well taken
my execution leaves alot to be desired but the point still stands.
Can’t wait to get you awesome Cubs in the playoffs. Fine show last night ladies! I understand part 2 will air tonight . . .
GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMAT? JUST TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS?
No.
But, Brewers Fan, if they don’t make it out of the first- You won’t- Ah, forget it.
