Cross Shanahan's name off the list. (http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/12/report-shanahan-appears-headed-to-redskins.html)
It'll be Lovie again, just fyi.
Shanahan kind of looks like a redskin. An aged redskin, but a redskin.
I get it.
I thought all along that Lovie would be back. But things are turning ugly. Briggs, Urlacher, Hester and Utler have recently made loaded remarks to the media (If you're wondering which comments, use the internet) - revealing a franchise in total disarray. I'm thinking it's now at least 50/50 that Angelo can scapegoat Lovie and buy himself a little rope. This is, of course, horrible news, because Angelo is as culpable or more so for the disastrous state of things as Lovie. The Cutler Trade hath robbed him of draft picks to rebuild and Cutler has not provided him with any obvious proof that it was a good move.
The plan from here looks like it should be:
1. Fire Lovie, hire... fuck knows who.
2. Suck complete and utter balls in 2010.
3. Rebuild in 2011 with a Top-5 pick and free agents.
4. Profit.
The big, big, big trouble lies in Number 3. Because another wasted draft class could turn the Bears into the Lions. Angelo must go. How's his heart?

Cowher? Gruden? Rivera? No-name assistant? Urlacher? DeRosa?

I'd take Geraldo at this point, too.
Oh wait...
Daniel Grossman.

I'm pretty sure there's no angst being spent in the United Center over Havlat's absence. He also hasn't gotten any Standing Os.

No one misses Havlat. Sad Panda made everyone a believer within his first couple of shifts.
Today has made me realize just how much I love the Hawks.

Only third time for me at UC so far but I ain't complainin'd.
This team is a salve for the raging BearsCubs herpes I've got.
Angelo is going to trade Lovie to the Orioles for BRIAN ROBERTS!!!! just to piss Hendry off.
Prior to the game, Jerry Angelo met with the press and was asked if Lovie Smith would be back next year. Angelo replied that everyone would be evaluated following the season. So that gives some hope. Especially if the evaluators are watching the Ravens game today.
Nice to Lovie to ensure that this loss is legitimate.
I've been cleaning all day but I have the game on in the background. I got a hearty chuckle when I saw it was 14-7 at half and 5 minutes into the third it was suddenly 28-7.
This team is atrocious.

I did not see this season coming. I really believed that this team was going to be decent enough to compete for the division title. What a shitty sports year.

Really? The weaknesses of this team were apparent from the OTAs to training camp to opening night. There were and are glaring holes at nearly every position, save QB.
Just hope for Cowher and his drafting prowess.

Except Billick said before the game he'd heard that Lovie was back next year no matter what. I'd like to know where he heard that. I managed to make it through this game all the way to Cutler's second interception. That's the longest I've watched since the Philly game. Good thing I'm a LIFE LONG Saints fan.

SKO, I know I heard somewhere (the Score most likely) last week that unless the Bears were completely embarassed in the last 3 games, Lovie's job was safe. It was this report that led to Angelo's "no confidence" vote when he was asked if it was true.
Also, the Bears were completely embarassed yesterday, so it might not have mattered anyway.

The Bears will be embarrased again Monday night against the Vikings and then one more time when they lose to the Lions. At that point Lovie will be fired.

Wait, remind me why we care if Lovie gets fired if Angelo is hiring his replacement, running the draft and signing free agents.

We don't. Lovie being fired and Angelo staying is worse than having Smith around another year. If Angelo gets to hire another coach it means we're stuck with his dumbass for several more years. This thing has to be a clean sweep.
