OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Mom's Basement / Re: MLB 2K9

I've heard a lot of bad things about this game, so this will be Year 4 of no new baseball game for me.

Hanley isn't that bad of a defender, (26, 24, 22 E in the last 3 seasons, career .960+ F%).  Maybe he needs to be moved to first base in the game, so he can use his range to NOT get pulled off the bag.

Word of warning, I have no idea what it entails, but I've been told about franchise-crushing bugs, so buyer beware!

(Also, just to be an ass, I have to mention that Gary Thorne is one of the worst in the business.  Maybe I'm saying that because whenever he calls an Iowa game, he turns into a biased prick.  STICK TO HOCKEE THORNE!  He's the main pbp guy for the Orioles.  All my DC-area friends want his ass GONE.  To be a non-ass, I bet he's not so insufferable in this game.  He cannot be as bad as Verne Lundquist in College Hoops 2K7.)

I hate things like conditions that rob a person of their well-being and livelihood.  I like things like causes such as these, that step up to the plate to help those who have no choice but to fight.

Thank you for your contributions, Fork, they are much appreciated by all who are forced down a less desirable path!

It's amazing how having a job and having (?) a relationship can cut into my free time. I barely even have the chance to read Desipio for more than 5 or 10 minutes a day.

If that's the case, I'll go ahead and start up the league.  Here we go:

Congrats btw, BC!

Do we have an NCAA Tournament pool set up anywhere yet?

Well I was going to add a disclaimer to my post, that I didn't want to put out the vibe that I thought I actually deserved a spot, cause I sure as shit don't.  But if I get a spot, I'm taking the league.  You mark it here and you mark it now.

I just now saw my invite, and it tells me the league is full.  Is this true?  Because I need to fire my press secretaries, if'n this be the case.

QuoteBCB is NOT a message board. It isn't a talk radio call-in show. The headline at the top of the page reads "A Chicago Cubs Fan Community Since February 9, 2005", and that's the most concise way I can describe this site. BCB itself is a blog, one which has built a community feel to it over the last 4 years. And unlike some blogs that talk at you, BCB offers FanPosts and FanShots where you can drive the conversation.

Delusional self-importance, thy name is Al Yellon.

All this time I have ripped on Al for being a self-important doucheface--which he is--but seriously.  How can any self-respecting "fan" stand to spend their time at a place where this schoolmarm is constantly  telling them how to express themsleves?  As bad as Al is, his legions--for actually sitting though his 13,000 word finger-wagging lecture and subsequently agreeing to his cockamanie new rules--need to be naturally selected out of the gene pool.

Dolan is right.  Thank God those idiots are over there instead of over here, ruining this place.  If this place is going to get ruined, at least it's going to be by someone who thinks for himself.  Like TDubbs.

They already drove JD away.

If JD is anywhere but here, I want to be there.

It is as simple as this:  By ending prosecution, we would see all those funds labeled under "expense" move under the "balance" label.  Instead of hemorrhaging cash, we'd be keeping it.  On top of that, legalization would give us one of our highest yielding natural resources.  That multiplies the profits you rake from not prosecuting it.

It really seems elementary on paper.  Now, if somebody would just roll that paper, then we would be set.

Now, that is change that I can believe in.

I for one appreciate this thread because I didn't have time to wade through 50+ pages of text to find out that our rival clubs of the NL Central are going to be stank shit in this upcoming season.  I don't know who to thank: Tonker, for making this thread, or the other 5 baseball teams we share a division with, for being DEADWEIGHT.

I want to go to this, but I don't know what the vibe is.  Some people are excited to go.  Some people are saying this is going to be a trainwreck full of shit.  Which is it?  What will it be?  STAY TUNED.

creepily knocking on the back door of another apartment, asking if "Bad Kermit and TDubbs are there."

I lol'ed and I'm not afraid to say it.

I always liked Maddux because of his style of pitching, regardless of who he pitched for.  The same reason why I never liked Clemens, regardless of who he pitched for.

Where Maddux used chess pieces to outmatch hitters, Fat Roger Clettitte used a needle in his ass to overpower them.

The fact that Maddux was a Cub at one point of course helps me like him.  The fact that he left sucked.  But, being a fan of good, solid, smarts-based pitching, I always liked the guy, and always will.  Clemens can go suck the dried crusted ass-blood off a rusted syringe tip.

Congrats to RD for being a first-time entry into the market game, and good luck on your purchase.  Thanks to all the replies too, this has been some very helpful and worthwhile information.

I know this isn't a spam comment, but it sure reads like one.
