OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

I wonder if Addison's early-season struggles were caused by stress from the drama at home. Perhaps the news getting out was actually a relief to him, because he wasn't hiding anything anymore.

Don't wonder about that.
There's no way to find out and it doesn't matter anyway.

At this point, they'll get a divorce, neither MLB nor law enforcement will do anything about it because it's unprovable and we'll just have to deal with rooting for a guy that might be a scumbag (admittedly any of them could be, but there's smoke here.)

That's the future as long as he's a Cub.

Would someone please tell me if the Jimmy Butler trade was good, bad, terrible, or a disaster.

The last three.

This has been a horrible team to be a fan of for a long damn time now.

I don't know how long after having the greatest player in history you have to wait before hating this team, but this is a garbage fucking organization run by complete incompetents.

In 28 games (97 ABs) in Myrtle Beach this year, Eloy's slashing 278/381/546 with 7 dongs.

Do the Cubs let him finish the year here, or is it time for him to see what the Southern League has to offer?

I think it's a least another month before asking this question.  I'd be surprised if he goes to Tennessee this year.

Really disappointed in Addison if this is true. Gonna be hard to root for him.

I kind of wish that in all cases of domestic violence, or accused misconduct of pretty much any type, they kept the matters anonymous and private until a verdict is rendered. This kind of thing taints a person's reputation pretty much forever, regardless of the outcome.

Who is "they?" Instagram? People?

It's not like we found this out through law enforcement or the media.

The way I see it is you'd demote him to Iowa if you felt he needed to learn something or if he was blocking someone better. Considering Happ is already cooling off and might need to go back himself there's not a ton of organizational depth in the outfield. If you demote Schwarber you're probably playing Bryant every day in left and Javy at 3rd, but Javy largely looks good because Joe picks his spots and his matchups still. When he plays every day he tends to struggle. You're just robbing from Peter to pay Paul.

Shut up Paul, you're a douche.

You send Schwarber to Iowa and SKO's life will be turned on its head. He'll be stopped on his trips to pick up diapers and beer at the Hy-vee for people to request autographs and photographs with WORLD SERIES HERO KYLE SCHWARBER! Groupies will approach him at the Indianola Arby's as he dines with his family and they will ask him why he  didn't call, oblivious that the real Kyle Schwarber is in fact on a 9-game road trip through Omaha, Colorado Springs and Albuquerque.

Couple that with the fact that it really is a dumb idea, and it's easy to see why he's against it.

I'm dying

TJ confirmed that there is an Arby's in Indianola. That's dedication to the craft.

And if you'd spotted me "Indianola" and gave me three guesses to come up with the state, I'm not sure I would've landed on Iowa. Impressive.
I am not as surprised to learn that there is an Arby's in Indianola as I am that there is a place called Indianola.

It's Texarkana's stupid cousin.

Which is impressive, in and of itself.

Gerardo Concepcion, who should best be remembered as the guy who got the totally undeserving call-up over Armando Rivero last year.

Robert Pirsig, 88.

I tried to read ZATAOMM once.  Admittedly, I was very young, but I distinctly remember it being a massive bunch of arse.

I had it assigned to me as a college sophomore and while maybe it was just young, good College Republican SKO's disdain for hippies that led me to this conclusion I can't remember it as anything other than pretentious gobbledygook.

All we need is TJ and Morph calling this book socialist bullshit and everyone will be completely living up to their Desipio stereotypes (archetypes?).

By the way, 20-something hippie/socialist Oleg loved every word of this book and had read it multiple times.

I would have to read it again now that I'm basically a radical leftist by Iowa standards but I feel like my hatred for it would still stand up.

Save yourself the trouble. I was "basically a radical leftist by Iowa standards" at the time of reading. It was pretentious gobbledygook.

It's navel staring gibberish.
Although I included it on my college applications.

I thought I was exactly the type of person who was going to like this book.

I didn't.

For all the reasons stated above.

I know that nobody cares anymore, but Mike Glennon is pretty bad and this isn't going to go well.

If we're fortunate, the team really sucks this year, an inevitable housecleaning from Phillips on down is evident around Halloween, around which time Virginia passes peacefully. Her ten children at different stages in life, different goals, different interests, and different liquidity statuses might be willing to listen to an ego-driven billionaire who could make a lot of their problems go away and truly allow the Bears to rebuild correctly.

(On the downside, the first phone call I'd expect a smart owner to make upon buying the Bears would be to 773-404-2827, pressing # for the dial by name directory, and then the numbers 3-7-7-8-3-4-6. It's not without precedent.)

Realistically, the defense should be a shade better, and the team will go 5-11 with some marked improvement on the defensive side of the ball, possibly 7-9 if the running game does anything. Fox is probably gone, but Pace probably survives, and Ted Phillips and the rest of the real brass stay.

The Bears regime from 1986 until today (31 years and counting) in which the McCaskeys clearly have run the show has to be the worst-run period of any franchise in Chicago history, and that includes P.K. Wrigley's Cubs and Bill Wirtz's Blackhawks.

Pretty much the only hope is that they still draft DeShaun Watson the top QB on their draft board even with the Glennon signing and he fairly-miraculously turns out to be awesome.

But that won't happen.

They'll get a stud defender instead and he'll probably be good but they'll be bad.

If Zobrist or Baez get hurt, you don't think he gets the call?

Far be it from me to defend Pen, but nothing he said indicates that he doesn't think that. If they have a long term injury where just using La Stella to fill in isn't an option, sure, Happ will probably get the call, but if you think Theo and Jed aren't increasingly likely to trade Happ for pitching you just aren't paying attention.

That's not Gleyber Torres.

5 homers through 8 games for Iowa.

It's going to suck to see him become a star for another team, but the front line starting pitcher he brings back should make up for it.

Despite not being much excitement after the top 3, it's worth noting (from this article on the top 30) that 11 of the top 30 prospects are in Triple-A this year, on a team with no obvious room.

Seems like we could/should see some of these guys go this year.
