Well, even better was the ingenuity of the guys who ordered 25 beers at last call and had them lined up on the last row of the bleachers the final 3 innings. You just needed to know where to look, flannj. (Of course one of the brownshirts came up and demanded we get rid of the beer with 1 out in the 9th. We happily obliged.)

I like the old Blue Jays hats, too, although I liked the old road hats better:

I also like the button-down version of that uni, in which the logo is slightly to the right. If they did it in powder blue, it would have been steak sauce on a non-acousticophobic roof.

But I digress. The unis remind me of the 1985-era Blue Jays, who would have destroyed the Tards in the World Series if they didn't choke.

The woman with the battered headphones looks a little confused, too. Of course I had started the evening right by answering her question of who Jim Essian was by giving a recap of the 1991 Cubs season.

Yesterday would have been a 15-12 game if you had the 2000 Cubs staff. Marquis didn't have great stuff, but he lasted 6 innings. He's strung together some decent starts. He might have some value yet.  The next couple days could be, um, interesting.

The Republicans have taken over the graphic design department of the New Yorker?
