OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

The one upside to living in Pissburgh was ridiculously cheap baseball and being able to sneak down to sit wherever.

Of course, you only saw one big league team play on any given night, and that changed every 2-4 days...

If anyone thinks that a bill of a helmet touching a bill of a cap constitutes "physical contact," they should be subject to a zero-tolerance of them drawing another breath rule.  There's clearly nothing living between the ears to begin with.

Doesn't sound like this ump has a hangup.... geez.

The umpire who ejected Milton Bradley in his Wrigley Field debut Friday intends to file a report stating that the outfielder made physical contact.
Bradley is in serious danger of being suspended. He struck out looking on a full count pitch and shared a brief, but aggressive, exchange with umpire Dan Iassogna, at one point knocking the ump's hat slightly up his head. The report will be filed with the Commissioner's Office on Saturday. We'll keep you updated. Apr. 17 - 9:29 am et
Source: Cubs.mlb.com

That report isn't right. Iassogna was the second base umpire who said a report would be filed. Larry Vanover was the cockbag behind the plate who ass-raped Bradley on balls and strikes and then tossed him.

According to the Trib the only contact between Bradley and Vanover was the bills of their caps and it's so brief you have to run the tape in slo-mo to even see it.

Knowing his desire to fuck the Cubs in any conceivable way I would guess Bud makes sure Bradley gets a few days off. Fucking douchebag.

As predicted...

All this shows is that this umpiring crew is made up of a bunch of old men in Depends that can't handle anything resembling heat or criticism.  I really hope bad, work-related, things happen to them.

I wouldn't suspend a single player for anything short of throwing a punch at an ump, until umps get suspended for fucking up calls as badly as that one...if I were commish.  But I'm sure that half of the mouthbreathers in southern Missouri could do a better job than Selig.

Oh--and I hope Larussa eats a line drive into the dugout this season.

I'd say today's outburst probably did more to help his popularity in Chicago than harm it.

Without a doubt.  But any self-respecting man that knew their day was done with that AB would've unloaded on the sorry excuse for an umpire behind the plate.  Given how littel Bradley said, I have a lot of respect for his ability to communicate so much with so few words.  If I were him, I would've showed up Vannover to the extreme and drew a line tracking the ball a good 4" or so off the plate--before unleashing the profanity.

That Lou didn't exit the dugout tells me that he's waiting to pick his spot later in the series.  I expect Vannover to have his ass served to him by Lou.

if you had April 16 in the "What Day Will Milt's First Ejection Happen" Pool, please step to the window to collect your winnings.

Good for him.  Those weren't strikes.

Not even close. Milt has a decent eye, I'd say - he got hosed.

The ball was 4"-6" off the inside corner and never came close to breaking over the plate.

I hope this home plate umpire finds a way to die in a pool of his own vomit while choking on his bile.

Get used to seeing that a lot this year. Every umpire in the league wants to fuck with Milt.

Oh, and fuck Cotts, Patton and Heilman.

Good to know MLB umps are professionals.

Oh wait, we've known that they're hacks for a while now...

Edit: After he didn't give the call to Cotts, let me rephrase--it's clearly Tony LaRussa's dick he's choking on.

The Astros just got shutout by Zach Duke, managing 4 total hits.

Duke, with a 4.36 career ERA coming in, and a very impressive .307 BAA for his career, now has allowed 1 run in 15.1 IPs in 2009 against the Cardinals and Astros.

Duke has a very good pedigree, and has shown flashes of brilliance.  Pissburgh also has burnt through definitely a few pitching coaches in his time there, which can't be good for the development of a young arm.  And I think it's a contract year--I wouldn't be surprised if Duke puts up very solid numbers this season.

Fuck it, Bucs/Stros is a total cripple fight. Those teams couldn't make the AAA playoffs.

Which one is Timmy and which one is Jimmy?

To be fair--Soriano was a +0 after his bad misplay yesterday and allowing Hall to take 3rd and then score tonight (+2 from the 2 solo shots, and -2 from those plays).

But he's back in the +, and in a big way--so FYC: Soriano +2.

I'm not understanding the "Little Pumas". What the hell is that all about?

Because if it were anything with 'Panthers' in it, they'd probably end up hanging from the Crawford boxes?

Dusty Baker's managing the Reds...

Houston has one and a half good starting pitchers (Oswalt and Wandy Rodriguez at home)...

The Cardinals' bullpen is still terrible...

The Brewers' bullpen might be even worse...

And the Pirates are still the Pirates...

I am optimistic about this season. So far. Maybe.

But you're forgetting so many things...

Like the Tards' starting rotation.

And inability to lay off the booze.

And that Houston is the oldest team in baseball...(thanks Len!)

And that Cincy's lineup might be worse than Pissburgh's

This thread will be 280 pages by the end of August.

What is this not-so-subtle shit from Phil in the 3/28 Tribune?:

FT. LAUDERDALE — There's no blinking neon sign above the Baltimore Orioles' clubhouse door, certainly not one saying what newcomers must think when they walk inside.

But the atmosphere is different from that in most other places around baseball, especially ones where contributing to a playoff team is part of the bargain. To go from a Cubs team run by Lou Piniella to an Orioles team run by Dave Trembley guarantees culture shock.

...The onus remains on Hill, just like it remains on Pie. But with the Orioles looking at a 12th consecutive losing season, a baseball game can just be a baseball game. It's been a while since it didn't feel like something else at Wrigley Field.

Am I dumb if I don't understand the "main idea" of this passage?  Was I left behind as a child?

Nice win tonight.  Bulls are in the 8th seed and own a tie-breaker over the bucks now.

Is making the playoffs out  of the East still like getting a ribbon for finishing in the Special Olympics?  Cleveland and Boston excepted?

It's like beating Pitt at football.

Don't tell that to the Iowa fans!
