OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

You always figured that every time that Z went out there, he could throw the no hitter.  Well, every time except the time he hasn't pitched in 12 days after getting a cortisone shot, when he has to pitch against Houston.  In Milwaukee.

I love this game.  I love this team.

A walk in the park for CC today: "only" 113 pitches in seven innings. Dusty had Arroyo throw 120.

I hope CoCo Cordero has one more good inning in him for the 9th today.

Nevermind, FatHead Weathers is gas-canning the 8th.

Well both pitchers should enjoy this article.  http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/128/the-most-valuable-player-in-sports-is-this-doctor.html?page=0%2C9

9th inning rallies don't slump, dude (now hopefully the Reds can hold on).

EDIT-- They do- Reds win.

First off, it's starting to look like the Mets will win the division not the Phillies.  I wouldn't mind facing the Mets.  However, the Diamondbacks suck.  They're not as good as last year.  Their bullpen is awful and their offense has been really inconsistent.  Brandon Webb got nailed in the chest with a line drive a few starts ago and he's been bad since.  The Cubs don't fear Dan Haren, and the Randy Johnson dominance over the Cubs will end with a thud.

Give me the division, the best record, home field and the sissy boy snakes.  Last year's playoffs mean nothing when this year's start.

Oh, I expect the division and best record also.  Right now Milwaukee is 4 up on Philly for the Wild Card.  If Philly can make up the gap, the Cubs would play Philly (best record in division vs wild card, unless wild card is in same division).  My preference has little to do with last year as well, just what I saw this year (while Ariz is 2-4 vs the cubs as opposed to phily's 4-3, the fact is that the Phillys caught the Cubs at the right time last week), but they shouldn't have trobule with either team, and it would be fun to watch Milwaukee self destruct (especially after how chirpy they were a few short weeks ago).

Am I the only one who thinks the Cubs will see the Phillies in the first round and the Brewers will be watching it on TV?

I claimed a couple of weeks ago that those last three games with Milwaukee will be important, as they may decide the wild card (lost, of course, to the sands of the shoutbox).  As I still would much prefer seeing the Phillies as opposed to the snakes in the first round of the playoffs, I approve this message.

I know it's Metromix, but check this out.  Mainly the BLT cupcake at More, and the all-you-can-eat bacon at Chinaski's.

Free all-you-can-eat bacon? This challenges everything I've ever known about economics.

If all-you-can-eat bacon isn't an INCENTIVE, I don't know what is.

There was another bar that did this, but I can't remember the name and I believe it has closed.  The MARKET at work.

Also, they had a "deep fry anything" night, where you could bring stuff in and they'd batter and deep fry it.

did they have a fryer big enough to fit Bob Howry in?

I wouldn't want to eat deep-fried Howry, just want to throw him into 600 degree oil.

taste like chicken?

Tastes like victory.

New option for you all out there.  The Jay-free Sun-Times (yes that's how they're advertising it).  Slezak ran a DOOOM column regarding Z that was on the whole fair, and Wittmeyer notes that the next 30 games are much harder (while giving the Cubs credit for beating the teams on their schedule).

You know all those jokes involving Dusty saying "Dude, you got to hit the second baseman second".  Ned Yost doesn't see the humor in it.

QuoteTo go along with the other complaints about the management and their spectacular customer relation skills, what the fuck was with last call in the 7th inning?
I realize the ballpark has cutoffs to try to keep a lid on fan rowdiness and in order to comply with neighborhood requests. But a rooftop?
No one is going to run onto the field from a rooftop.

That's part of the deal the rooftops agreed to with the city when they were officially licensed.  I was actually surprised that the cut-off wasnt the time cut-off the park uses for night games.  Very forward thinking, however, of TJ's group to get the extra beers in time (I was one of the people who 'helped' TJ get rid of the extras).

On another note, anyone up for some sort of get-together on Saturday night as well, so all the morans who can't make the game can participate in dwarf-tossing Oleg some of the weekend's festivities?

I guess this weekend will officially be Moran-fest.  It'll be like Hawks-fest, but with fewer concussions.   Unless Hawk will be there, in which case, someone just might get concussed.  I have a feeling I may have something going on Saturday night, but I can weasel out of it.  It's not like I'm married.  Just tell where and when and I'm there.

Bernie's?  Let's get some pre-game tail before we head upstairs.  Come on Oleg!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Let's make it rain up in that biatch

Tipster liked him some of that older (not quite cougar-y) tail mouth, huh?  Bernie's before a Sunday night game may be a bit crowded.  Especially since we're looking at 20 folks or so in our group (35 or so to the game, minus a couple who are too cool to join us beforehand).  I like TJ's suggestion of Guthrie's since they have that back room where we can all meet.  Moran's is a natural choice, but, that'll probably be packed as well.  Keep in mind, the douche factor will be high what with all the red (and not the good commie-red) running around.  Again, I'm up for whatever.

Well, I'm already pre-concussed.

Saw it last night and gotta agree with it being a very entertaining movie.  The oddest thing I thought was that they actually took Chicago off the cop cars.  I do like how they showed a dirtier side of the city instead of obvious landmarks.

They showed every building from Clark between Belmont and Addison without showing Wrigley field.  Saw the movie last night and thought it was a double portion of steak balls , but I'm really looking forward to other Chicago movie coming next week (the trailer for Dark Night was the last trailer for the film).

The Genius wants help, and he wants it NOW, DAMNIT!

Getting Mulder back wasn't enough?

It's like trading for another starter.

"16 Pitches in July" makes for a great title for a Buzz Bissenger book.

I simply cannot explain Todd Wellemeyer, Kyle Lohse, Joel Piniero and Braden Looper. I am without speech.

Expect Chacon, Carl Pavano, and LaTroy Hawkins to end up in St Louis and be to knock Tony LaRussa's lights-out all August and September long. Doesn't make any sense.

Much more entertaining'd
