I've spent a month and a half of my worthless existence in this wretched stinkhole full of buttchugging statqueers whose mothers were constipated for 9 months? Oh, how humiliating.

The Counter on Diversey just west of Clark...very good burgers and shakes, and solid fries. But if you're just a simple douche like myself who wants a bacon cheeseburger and doesn't really care about dozens of high-falutin' toppings like salsa and pineapple, go to Five Guys instead.

Serious (and most likely stupid) question for all you conservacrats: are income disparities like this a bad thing for a country/economy in the long term? As a wretched commie pig, I understand there are haves and have-nots in every society, but the bleeding heart connected to my gut tells me income concentrated this highly in a small group is not a good thing. I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise by a well-supported argument that is heavy on science and light on shiny fascist jackboot kicks to my derriere.

It didn't really take that much thought into your "motivations." You posted it and SAID that you were making fun of yourself. Since I assume you want a response to something you post on a messageboard, and that if you're making Fun of something the expected response is laughter, I naturally assumed you posted that in an attempt to be funny. It wasn't funny, however. Had you merely commented on Freddy Bynum or Aaron Miles or whatever the thread was about without harkening back to some terrible joke you made three years ago, expecting to get a laugh because "OMG, LOL KURT, THAT REALLY WAS A TERRIBLE JOKE HAHA!", I'm sure people would have let it pass. If you're concerned about the deficit, it's the window beyond ten years you should be worried about. The eventual bill will be deficit neutral (for CBO scoring purposes, which, for better or worse, is how all bills are evaluated) over the initial 10 year window, using a combination lower Medicare reimbursements, and either a surtax, a tax on insurance companies, or a cap on the employer tax exclusion for health care.

If you want to debate whether the bill will add to the deficit after the 10 year window, that's fine. There are legitimate arguments on either side - cost savings and efficiencies could reduce the deficit, or the burden of coverage subsidies could add to the deficit. But estimating costs/revenues even within the 10 year window is difficult enough - go beyond that and even CBO will acknowledge it's a bit of a crapshoot.

In any event, I can only ask what would happen if you, MikeC, were unemployed, and without health insurance.  We won't even consider your eligibility for Medicaid, for which you probably wouldn't qualify.  We won't even consider the fact that you may need health care and be unable to pay for it.  My question is this: how would you live with the fear that you might get hurt?  And moreover, would it offend your free market sensibilities to go to an Emergency Room and drain the resources from those who do pay for their health insurance, because the law states that they must stabilize your condition?  Would that dose of socialism/atheism/communism/taxolib homocratism offend you?  Would it scare you enough to make you leave the ER before you've been stabilized?
