OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

If The Cubs got offered Harvey or Syndergaard plus something else for Schwarber, would you be upset at that trade?  I might be but if something of that ilk came along, I'd think Schwarber would have a chance at getting dealt.

I don't want him gone but if I was making a $100+ investment in a jersey for a kid, I'd probably want better odds than that of the player sticking around.

If the Mets are offering one of those guys, then yeah. But why would they be?

As far as making an investment in a jersey for a kid...there's a process that you are unfamiliar with here. Mainly, he'll grow out of it in a year.

Eh ...  Jerseys are big and loose, and we're ordering it a size up. I think it'll last longer than a year. It wouldn't be the end of the world if a guy were traded in a year or two, but it would kind of suck if he was traded before opening day. I wouldn't put it past Theo.

Thanks guys. The almost 5-year-old has deemed Bryant's jersey acceptable.  :). Most of the games he saw this year were those early playoff games; hence the Schwarber love.

My son wants a Schwarber jersey. Bad investment?  Going to be traded before the credit card bill shows up?  I think Arrietta is second choice.

There are worse choices than the franchise record holder for career postseason home runs.

But he's more of a DH, no?

I concur. Bring all the old posters back, except for Paul and Earl Cunningham

What about me?

Gotta bring the kid.

One day. :)  He's a huge Cubs fan, of course. My dad made sure of it. He's been extremely excited to watch the playoff games and can follow them pretty well since he played T-ball this summer.  He does, however, think that every force out is a double play.   About a year ago, when Baez came up, I told him that Javy hits a lot of homeruns, which actually turned out not to be true last year. But it nevertheless stuck, and Javy is his favorite player (with Russell and Schwarber and Arrietta right behind), so he was super excited by Javy's homerun yesterday.

Guys I posted here about a decade ago (and once in the late 2000s, or so, who the fuck cares) as RockTheIvy. You guys commiserated with me in 2004. What a clusterfuck. This was amazing. When the Cubs made the postseason, I realized I needed to come back here. Where the fuck else could a long time loser spend his time? With fucking Yellon? Of course. This is fucking special. I hope you're all well. I'll stick around here this time.

And fuck Matt Carpenter/Dickface Holiday/Pudding-brain Matheny. They can play the game the right way in hell.

Speaking as a semi-active poster, unlike you crazy people that don't seem to ever have to do work all day and have thousands of posts, I love seeing some old accounts active again. This team, man. This is fun.

I concur. Bring all the old posters back, except for Paul and Earl Cunningham

Went to the game today with my parents and my son, who was wearing a really cute little Cubs outfit.  My son likes to clap his hands and yell "yay", especially when the people around him are doing so.  Hence the cute little kid in the Cubs uniform cheering on the White Sox.

Can someone get him to finally admit that he smashed the boombox?

As for the grand jury report, I simply do not understand how McQueary didn't remove that poor child from that situation immediately.

I keep going back and forth on who to hate the most.  Who sees that and just leaves?  He says the child actually saw him.  That poor kid probably thought someone was finally going to help him.  Instead, he traded his conscience and that child for a coaching job.

I made the horrible mistake of reading about this tonight, and I feel physically ill.  We'll never rid the world of deviants, but the idea that these people could sit around and bloodlessly figure out the very least they could do is inconceivable.  A grown man WITNESSED the anal rape of a ten year old, knows the child saw him, and instead of screaming, calling 911, doing ANYTHING, he goes home and asks his dad what to do?  And then the next day, they call the coach?  And he calls his boss?  It is literally difficult to believe.  More people need to be arrested.  I know nothing about college football or how great this coach is, but I don't care what he accomplished or how old he is, he needs to pay.  There is no way to make that right.

That witness ended up with a full-time coaching job, too. Coincidence, I'm sure.

Boston Herald reporting that Theo is "on the brink" of joining the Cubs.

Still to determine:
- Compensation for Sox (Soto and Grabow FTW)
- How many titles they'll have to invent beyond GM to give Theo

The Cubs have to take John Lackey.

Gammons speculating Brett Jackson on Twitter.

That's the only cubs prospect Gammons knows.

That's because he's the only Cubs prospect who exists.

I haven't paid enough attention to baseball this year to even know who Brett Jackson is, but if he's as untradeable as Felix Pie or Hee Seop Choi or Josh Vitters or any of those pitchers everyone was whining about trading in 05/06, then I say bring in the cute Jewish boy.

You had a kid?

How quickly they forget.  I had (and have) a completely adorable baby who is far more worthy of jealousy than the fact that I have been spared this season of the Cubs.  He also chose the week I went to work to figure out how to move from one point to another.  Childproofing must be undertaken.  And I'm kind of tired.  Did I mention that I went back to work?

Haven't watched 20 minutes of baseball this year.  Nathaniel stares at the television in a way that I consider unhealthy, and therefore it's not on when he's awake.  And when he's asleep, I've found better things to watch or do.  So, what have I missed?  Is it time to start tuning in for the playoff push?

OK, I'm just kidding.  About the last question.  The rest of it is true.  I'm going back to work tomorrow, so I highly doubt I'll suddenly have any time free up to spend watching terrible baseball.  But good luck to those of you who persevere.
