Did I do this right?
And, that one's because I love TEC and the troops.
OK A-holes. It's fixed. Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them. I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

The only money that's guaranteed is the $5 restocking fee if you don't claim your preorder 48 hours after release.
That's why I put "guaranteed" in quotes. They (Gamestop at least) want you to pre-order games because they can look at it like a full game sale weeks or months in advance. I used to work there, and other than used games, there's nothing they push harder than pre-orders. At the very least, it's like $5 permanently circulating in their system because people often pre-order another game when they pick up the one they had already. And it must just be the retail chains like Best Buy/Target that have that re-stocking fee when you don't pick up a game. Gamestop just keeps it in their system. I had a Halo 3 pre-order still in my name like a year after it came out and I just put it towards some other game I bought one day when I went in.
QuoteYou will be required to remit payment at the store, at the time of pick up. We will not charge your credit card online for any in-store pick-up order. Please bring payment and identification in the form of either a copy of your order confirmation, a valid driver's license or other government issued identification. If you do not pick up the product within 48 hours of notification, we reserve the right to charge your credit card a $5.00 re-stocking fee.

I was planning on tuning in regardless, in order to see how exactly three-time Nobel Prize Winner Mark Deosa was planning on shitting the bed this year.
Since I really want to have this discussion again, I'm going to point out that Derosa's OPS in his two Cubs postseasons was .958 and that he drove in two-thirds of the team's runs during last year's series.
Then I'm going to wait for you to have a stroke.
It's the double play that he failed to turn last year, moreso than the retarded one he hit into the year before, that still gets my goat. I'm generally pretty SABER-friendly, but in such small samples those stats provide me little solace. Not when I see how much this SUPERHERO could have picked up Big Z and the entire team by turning the tailor-made two and saving that game, instead of turtling up in that inning like everyone else not named "Zambrano" did. I mean, for a guy as superawesome as DeRosa is, you'd figure it's the least he could have done. Just a cross I'll have to bear, I guess.
Every infielder made an error that game.
Whenever you give the other guys four (or five) extra outs, you're gonna lose. Focusing ANGER on Mark DeRosa takes the focus away from the fact that the whole team played like horseshit.
Lonestar always knew the team was a bunch of goddam gutless fucking assholes. He tried to warn us, but we didn't listen. Then they went out in two consecutive postseasons and proved him right.

Anyone know of any benefits to preordering this game? I've found that you never seem to be in jeopardy of not getting a game if you don't preorder, so that's not what I'm looking for. Mainly just curious if there are any special deals to be had by preordering.
Since this game will probably be the best seller of all time, you might want to preorder just so you will be guaranteed a copy on release day. If you care that much.
I highly doubt he's going to have a problem finding a copy of the game when it's released. It used to be that way with some of the huge titles because they never shipped enough, but nowadays the only ones you will find sold out are limited releases like the Beatles: Rock Band Special Edition. Every store that sells video games is going to have like 300 copies of MW2.
I know some places offer pre-order specials, but for MW2, the most you'll find is a t-shirt or something like that. Some other games have exclusive deals with Gamestop or another company to offer DLC only if you pre-order there, but MW2 isn't one of them. The only real reason you'd need to pre-order is if you want one of the limited editions of the game, or if a store has a special on pre-orders. I know a couple weeks ago, Best Buy had a deal where you get $10 off any game $30 or over with a pre-order. Amazon is running the same thing right now.

As much as I would like to bang the Yankees drum to be able to continue the FYP pleasure of the new faux-Twins fans here...as much as we all know the Yankees are an evil monster, this quote from last week's SI article on Mariano really stuck out:Quote
After failing to reach the playoffs last year for the first time since 1993, the Yankees have the best record in baseball, the most home runs, the highest-scoring lineup, and the highest-paid catcher, first baseman, shortstop, third baseman, starting pitcher and, yes, reliever.
So, if you guys want to hate America and not support Detroit, that's your problem, but if we're talking about going up against the Yankees, there will be no FYPing on a Twins victory in this series.
I like the Yankees because they play awesome baseball.
So why do you like the Cubs?
I didn't used to, but I sort of fell in love after they signed Mark DeRosa.
How could you not? His stubble is so dreamy.
I have stubble. Am I dreamy?
Yeah, ever had a night terror?

My favorite moment from that animotronic assclown's shitting-on-the-baseball-game last night was on that double play that Slaky alluded to.
For posterity, here was how that clown college called that play.QuoteLine drive ! BASE HIT! CAUGHT BY RAYBURN!

Braylon to the Jets. Wow. He can drop balls New York and punch Yi's little buddy.
And Crabtree signed.
Edwards to the Jets is a good move. Playing in Cleveland has more or less sapped that guy of his work ethic and will to live. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a great year with the Jet. The best part about Crabtree signing is that by most reports he didn't gain a damn thing through the hold out except a 6th year, and there's no more guaranteed money in the deal now than there was in July. Nice job by the 49ers to wait that one out.
Update: Apparently the Browns got Chansi Stuckey, a special teams player, and a 3rd and 5th round pick. That's a pretty good haul.
Once you put on the green jersey you become teh suck. It's science.

You're still clinging to that extra .068 points of OPS that Theriot gives you over Blanco with FAR worse defense, huh? I'd obviously rather have someone better than Blanco, but I'd much rather have Blanco than Theriot.
Even as the self-declared leader of the "Dave B, you're crazy, Ryan Theriot sucks" bandwagon, I can't support this.

This is basically why I say "Fuck these fucking gutless fucking assholes." I don't understand three years for Grabow and trading Jake Fox.
You don't understand why they'd trade Jake Fox?
I'm assuming Hendry feels he needs a RF in return of any Milton Bradley trade. Couldn't the Cubs take on a contract at another position and play Fox in RF? Just spitballin'.
Granted I stopped watching this team for most of the season, but is Fox that horrible in the field for the organization to basically write him off as not good enough to play everyday ? Normally I'd like this move, trade a player after he plays well and his value is high, but I know Hendry is too dumb to do that, so I have to assume Hendry thinks he's useless to this team? Let's trade Fox for a crappy, slap hitting 2B. Get it done, Jim!

Crazy Rumor Guy.
"Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune and Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times discuss the Cubs' offseason plans in new articles today.
* Both writers agree that unloading right fielder Milton Bradley (owed $21MM) is at the top of GM Jim Hendry's to-do list. Wittenmyer's sources suggest the Cubs might be able to move Bradley without eating 80% of his contract. Sullivan believes the Cubs could kill two birds with one stone by trading Bradley for their desired "RBI guy," one who carries an equally poor contract. Magglio Ordonez and Jose Guillen come to mind for me. However, the Tigers would have no motivation to make the swap and the Royals are not interested (it's a poor match on money and handedness anyway).
* Sullivan says lefty reliever John Grabow wants a three-year deal, and the Cubs "are likely to give it to him." That'd be overpaying, based on last year's market for lefty relievers.
* Sullivan believes Jake Fox and Mike Fontenot are trade candidates. Fox might be a good fit with an American League club.
* Will the Cubs opt for a cheap backup outfielder in Sam Fuld, or will they re-sign Reed Johnson?
* Neither writer expects the Cubs to trade Carlos Zambrano."
I can't wait to see what kind of haul we get back for Fontenot.

The subtle meta-jokes on this show are outstanding.
