OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Also, new theory that will probably be totally wrong: Wide Whale is somehow related to Dr. Dugong, who was murdered by the Monarch back in Season 3, and thus the animosity.

Correct! Also,  "I dressed-a myself like a Juggalo, sir!"

I hadn't even realized VB had started a new season until I saw this post and was delighted to find that my DVR was still set to record any new episodes of The Venture Bros. that showed up. So I watched the first 3 of this season and was not disappointed. Anything that goes deep on the Guild of Calamitous Intent and these character's pasts is gold to me, and that's basically what this season has started out with.

I did not realize that ginger ale was so tough to come by across the pond.

Still surprised he wasn't felled by a Hart Attack.

Ben Zobrist is baseball Marian Hossa. I don't know exactly what that means or how to justify the comparison, it just feels righ to me.

It's amazing how this dude has gone all of the way from "dude you watch with a clenched butt because you never know when one of those 86 mph floaters is gonna get crushed" to "guy so routinely excellent we don't even bump this thread for an utterly effortless 8 inning outing." He's the best.

He's fulfilled our wildest dreams of being *looks back to the beginning of the thread* better than Randy Wells.

Jesus Christ are we all dumb.

I need a notary who personally knows me. I have a friend with no ID other than an expired passport, and probably a birth certificate, whose father just died (I'm taking care of her cats), perhaps intestate. Anyway, there are predictable consequences. Probably next week. This place is overflowing with notaries public last I checked.

Sorry Wheez, I let mine lapse last year. Anybody else?

Corpse him up and send him home to mama.

That pneumonia killed him faster than Garfield kills lasagna!

Sorry...my wife thought that was gangbusters.

That's one of my all-time favorite Simpsons quotes to use that almost never gets a reaction.

Paperback Writer / Re: The Guns of August

It's been some time since I read it, but what I still remember was Stilwell's constant issues with Chiang Kai-shek with their relationship deteriorating to the point where he advocated to DC to cut a deal with the Mao's Communists as he thought they were the better fighting force.

Also the phrase "illegitimi non carborundum" a printout of which currently hangs from the wall of my cube.

And finally, accidentally running across the movie 1941 on television a few years ago and realizing that Robert Stack's portrayal of Stilwell in that movie was so much what I imagined the real guy to be like that I wished we'd gotten a biopic with Stack in the role.

Although "Guns of August" is perhaps her best known and most widely read book, I was stunned by "A Distant Mirror", about the final Crusade and its impact on European history.  Had that Crusade not happened, or had it ended earlier we would all be speaking French today.

*Dusts off cobwebs*
I knew there were long lost posts somewhere in the dark recesses of the Desipio fruit cellar about Barbara W. Tuchman.
I'm just starting "Stillwell and the American Experience in China".
Anybody here read it?

I know I'm late to the party here, but yes. Yes I have.

The Lodge can go straight to hell.

Also, in the same vein as Stew let me recommend "Crazy '08" by Cait Murphy. A very fun book with an epilogue that immediately brings you down by reminding you that the entire cast of characters is long dead.

I feel like an ingrate now, so thank you both for your sacrifice.

Also, I wanted to highlight it because it reminded me of the time that BC put the same team in both his "most underrated" and "most overrated" categories in a college basketball preview.

Never forget.
