And I'll second the 3D (or IMAX, if available) rec. Pretty subtle and it added a lot.

I usually think 3D is unnecessary, but you're right it was subtle and done right. Unlike the preview for the latest Lord of the Rings thing that looked like some kind of big screen diorama.

If you are going to see this movie it has to be on a big screen.

Not everyone agrees.

Quote from: @greggutfeldAlso, is 3D necessary if all you're gunna do is send a fountain pen my direction?

Weird criticism. They did have just a few of those whoa-look-at-this-come-at-you moments, but I thought they used it really well for larger-scale depth. Some of the wider shots were pretty fantastic.

Also, not related to anything else: Sandra Bullock is IN SHAPE.

I will concur; her legs looked pretty nice in boyshorts.

We saw this in 3D last night.  The last 3D movie that I saw was in the 1950's.  It was about African lions devouring everything in sight.  No plot.  Just lions eating everyone right and left.  "You.   Over there.  Yeah, you. Your turn.  Come over here and get eaten."  When you have good 3d you don't need a plot.  Maybe not even a story.  It is about 3D.  "Gravity" is about 3d.  Go see it in 3d.  It is magnificent.  They had the good sense to make it only and hour and a half long.  More than that and you would start squirming.  It is harrowing and breathtaking in more ways than one.  I expressed suspicion about this movie because they chose to star George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.  I thought that they put them in the movie because they needed star power to sell it.  Guess what?  To say that they starred those two suggests that they were featured over the other actors.  No.  They are the only actors in the movie.
As I suggested above, there is no plot.  It is about the awesome danger of being in space.  If you are scientifically minded you may hate this movie.  I am not a scientist.  But even I thought to myself, "That ain't right.  That is not accurate."  Certain things occur for the thrill and the drama that could not actually occur.  I don't want to write any spoilers, and I am not going to mention the spoiler that Bill Maher blurted out on national TV.   It is a very good movie that you won't soon forget.
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)
