OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

In their final 65 games of the season, the Cubs won at a rate that would translate into 115 wins over a full season. Small sample size, but Sweet Jesus.

That's 40% of the season.

More importantly, it was the LAST 40% of the season.

I prefer a larger sample size.  The Cubs are 478 games over .500 since 1876. They are good.

What don't they make the whole season out of the last 40%?

It wasn't the best 40%, but it was the RIGHT 40%.

40% of the time they were 100% of the way towards winning at a .708% clip. That is absolutely staggering.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

That's an important point. The final 65 games refer to the last week of July, August and September? At this point, the bad teams are packing it in, or cleaning out the dead weight, or bringing in rookies to see what they have. The good teams are that much better though.

In those last 65 games, they played 35 games against the likes of Colorado (3), Milwaukee (13), Detroit (2), Atlanta (4), Cinicinnati (6), Arizona (3) and Philly 4.  They went 27-8 against those teams, including 12-1 vs. Milwaukee. They played 30 games vs the likes of Pittsburgh (9), San Francisco (7), the Sox (3)*, Cleveland (1), LA (3), the Cardinals (6) and KC (1). They went 19-11 vs. them, including 11-8 vs. the playoff teams (5-4 over PIT, 4-2 over STL, 1-0 over KC, 1-2 vs. LA).

* The Sox are the Sox, but that was their series of the year. At that point, a sweep of the Cubs \might have made them think they were WC contenders again.
