We plan to make a trip to RUB over the next fortnight. Also, the Main Street Smokehouse in Libertyville, if I haven't mentioned it before, is worth the trip, as is Bryan's in Cave Creek, AZ. (Obviously, it's no Taco Bell, but what is?)

On our recent trip to AZ, we made another stop at Bryan's. For you hippie vegetarians, the pulled squash isn't a bad selection either.

A thousand times yes to Bryan's in my hometown.

The pulled pork is in a league/world/class of its own.

Arizona is way too far away from Kansas City and Memphis to have decent barbecue.

And KC and Memphis are way too far away from the Carolinas to have decent barbecue, either [/pointless regionalism]

Maybe, but the nice thing about being in AZ is that you are not in Memphis or Kansas City.

The pulled pork is teh balls as is the grilled and caramelized jalapeno to finish your meal.

I went to Carson's the other night. I hadn't been there in a while. It pretty much defined "meh."

This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

I'm going on a BBQ road trip to Memphis in a couple of weeks.  Planned stops include Cleveland, Columbus, Nashville, and Indianapolis among others.  Fork, et al, any suggestions?

Don't stop in Cleveland, Columbus, Nashville or Indianapolis.

(Seriously, when in Nashville, find a good place for "Hot Chicken".)

Bump.

In Nashville I went to Prince's Hot Chicken Shack.  Got the medium.  The results were embarrassing and in the end painful, but I'm still hoping to get back there someday.

I'm gonna be in Chicago in mid August for four days to have Chicago Q and Rick Bayless food.  Browsing through the forum are pages of recommendations for Chicago BBQ, but they are scattered and old.  What are the five best Chicago BBQ restaurants today?

M'lady.
