Fucken deadbeat Cubs. Unbelievable. I had hoped to make my 1908 offering a victory lap post three weeks from now. I had some witty BS to write up, but now I just don't have the energy. Meh.

Love the site, been around almost since the beginning. Hope I haven't pissed off people TOO often, and if so, sorry about that. Maybe I got some laughs going a few times, too. Say what you will about my online persona, but I'm actually a pretty fun guy once you get a few beers in me. And I do love this goddamn team, so we've all got that in common at least.

Someone asked about my username awhile ago. My first Cubs game my grandfather took me on the train from Galesburg, we got in the park as soon as it opened to see batting practice, hound the players, etc... I got two autographs that day, one from Ernie and one from...Paul Popovich. So there you go.

Out.

I don't know what is more embarrassing,  the fact that I have had the chutzpah to post 1908 times or the message in the box next to my avatar telling me how many days I have spent logged into Desipio.  I would like to think that it was all time well spent.  But who am I kidding?  If there is anything that I would change about Desipio it is that reminder that instead of lurking around here I could have been trying to make the world a better place.  Because I believe that God has put us here to love one another and to strive for world peace.  And if you select me as Mr. Desipio I will use my office as an ambassador of good will to places such as South Carolina and you know, Iran, and such like...

I love it too. And would it be too much to ask for a disparaging remark about the Cowboys in the teaser? Please.

I might have a disparaging remark that could work.

Oh, hey.  Did I get to 1910 already?  Well, that's the year the Cubs made it to the World Series and almost got swept out in glorious fashion by the Philadelphia A's before eking out a 10-inning 4-3 win in Game 4.  They were outscored 35-15 in the five-game series after going 104-50 during the regular season.  I suspect their flop will be repeated when they finally make the Series again in 2010 and lose in five games to the Oakland A's.

Yay?
