Okay, as a charter mamber of this here jerkfest, I am embarrased to admit that I don't understand these Aardsma references.  Yes I've been out of town a bit, but Desipio is sort of my American Express, particularly since I began going wireless three weeks ago.  In other words, while I've been busy, I haven't been so busy that I go more than a couple days without reading the posts.  I don't know how I missed the etymology of this reference, but somehow I am completely in the dark.

So, at the risk of being mercilessly mocked for my glaring ignorance, please.  Help me.  Will somebody be able to stoop this low long enough to explain what it means to get "Aardsma"-ed?  I'll sit down and listen for my answer.

My embarassment at not catching the Aardsma reference is exceeded only by the fact that I had made not one, but two subsequent comments after Slaky's introduction to the term.  Such is life as a self-absorbed asshole, I suppose.

Aardsma (the player) has actually pitched pretty well this spring.  He was very good yesterday.

Also, am I allowed to be aroused by Sean Marshall yet?  Or will touting the latest Cubs pitching phenom just get me an aardsmaing?

I dont know what to think of this guy. Should we be excited knowing hes never faced big league hitting in a game that counts? I dunno. Other teams seem to find these pitchers all the time, just never the Cubs. I remain cautious.
