This is why I hate the Giants, Giants' fans, and the San Francisco Comical.  The following appeared in today's SF Chronicle and SFGate:

"Of all the terrible ways to measure the Giants' descent, none matches the fact that Tuesday night's 10-6 loss to the Mets left them with a worse record than the Chicago Cubs.

The Lovable Losers are in the midst of a multiyear rebuild. This month, the Cubs are holding a garage sale of players. Their 40-48 record is expected. Nobody thought the Giants would be 40-49 at the same time, and after 13 losses in 15 games there seems to be no end in sight to the misery."

Are you annoyed by the swipes at the Cubs or the asshurt and "misery" currently endured by these long-suffering fans of the defending champs? Or both?

The concept that you know that you are really bad if you are worse than the Cubs does tend to annoy me.

Is this the first time that a team coming off a 100-loss season has had a better record than the defending champ on July 10?

Garza pitched really well in his Texas debut.  Hope he does well for 'em, as I've always found it difficult to dislike him.  He can be dumb with the shaving cream pies, but I don't have to be around him so that doesn't bother me.

Sounds like the Cubs will get back Corey Black, who throws hard but has control issues and isn't that good. He's not a top 20 prospect on the yankees, and their farm system isn't that great.  Cubs are paying roughly $17 million of Alfonso's deal. I'm not sure why every team wasn't more engaged, seems like the Yankees are getting one hell of a bargain for a reasonably good player (assuming Soriano would play for any other team besides New York).
