Apparently people thought Welington Castillo was worth more than an erratic and promising bullpen arm. Never change, Cubs fans.

Did they really? I'm seeing mostly "meh for meh" from people.

Yoervis Medina is pretty much exactly what I thought the Cubs should get for Castillo. There wasn't much chance they'd get Ackley or Furbush for a backup catcher.

Honestly, I think I'd rather have Medina than Ackley.

Sigh. If only.

Well, he is former LSU Tiger, Charlie Furbush.

I'm positiving the hell out of this move. Medina's #s are solid for a young reliever, and he gets lefties out (.189 oppBA).  If he pitches in line with his career #s, he will be a nice arm to have in the pen. If he can improve a bit, he could be a setup guy.

Once Bosio works his wizardry on Medina, this will go down as yet another huge steal for Epstink. I like Medina a lot and I have for a couple years now. He's my new Strop. He'll drink the blood, you people.

His career K/9 is 9.20. What are the Mariners doing?

My only concern is the dip in velocity everyone is talking about. Could be mechanical I suppose. Guessing Epstink wouldn't have made the move if they thought he was broken. In general this regime's rehabilitated enough arms that it's pretty hard to be skeptical whenever they pick one up.

After taking in the weekend series at Wrigley, the positive is again starting to flow.  I have a feeling that the kids aren't going to fold in the face of adversity, that Arietta's response to a 4-0 lead isn't giving up a grand slam, and that Maddon is going to get everything he needs.

I'm Hendricks getting his shit together and filling the black hole in LF away from shitting skittles and rainbows all over this board.

I guess I've really just seen the Cubs Den guy bitching about those people in vague terms and saying he was "shouted down for saying all along the Cubs wouldn't get much for Wely". Maybe they don't actually exist. That would be nice.

Takes a Strawman Sparring Partner to know a Strawman Sparring Partner?

My strawmen are the best strawmen, tho.

But seriously - why do you actively seek out dumb opinions to knock down? I honestly don't understand this mindset. I enjoy your rants as much as the next guy, but at some point you need to filter out the dipshits.

Hit Cutler in the back with a steel chair while he's standing on the Bears logo at midfield. It'll be the biggest face turn ever.
