I agree with the recommendation to stay at the Days Inn on Diversey. Book it as soon as you can. Parking isn't the best. You probably have to park at the mall's garage around the corner, but it isn't that big of a deal. The hotel is pretty decent, and the rooms are quite a bit bigger than at a lot of places in the city. The location is great. After you're done at Shuba's you can cab it to Weiner Circle, about a half block south of the hotel. Good times. And getting out of the city that early shouldn't be that big of a deal. Just take Diversey all the way back to the Kennedy (90 West).

My memory got a little jogged following Schuba's, but I remembered one of youse guys saying something about a "something or other circle" a few blocks south of Schubas. Me and my KurtEvans ladyfriend walked about 5 blocks south, but we couldn't find anything that was open for a quick bite and there sure as hell weren't any circles. So, we figured we'd hail a cab and see if he knew of any places around the Days Inn where we could grab some food--I couldn't really understand what he said, but I heard "Weiner" and gave him the go-ahead to drop us off there for a dog.

We walked in to see an argument between a little Asian dude and the girl behind the counter. The girl told him he was a "brokeass, baby-lookin' motherfucker." He then grabbed an ATM receipt and made me, "a white boy", confirm that he had a balance of about $10,000 "in the motherfucking checking account--not even the savings" no less. This was after he'd placed his order, but before he continued to lecture her about the benefits of "having mad equity", "good health insurance--this card ain't for no HMO", and threw in a few "I own. You rent. Get some equity. Eq-ui-ty! Eq-ui-ty! Eq-ui-ty! Google that shit!"

Long story short, what I experienced at The Weiners Circle was, hands down, the most entertaining thing I saw all night. I've never been so thrilled to be called a "white boy" by a total stranger.  I didn't even put two and two together, and realize that I was at the "something or other circle" that Old Style Man had recommended until today.

It was about what I expected. Schuba's was nice and all, but Weiner Circle was pretty hard to top. A little seating would've been nice, although I can sort of understand why they don't have any. The coat hooks on the wall were a nice touch though. I couldn't find tickets to the Saturday show, so we went to the one on Monday night and left at about 4:30 the next morning. Aside from my present state of sleep deprivation, it was an excellent trip.
