Well, I currently have a 37" Rear-projection LCD tv that I got 2 years ago. I had an issue on Sunday (just a couple hours before the bears game) with the sound on it. It went out for a short amount of time. I tried multiple things, and couldn't get it working. About an hour later, after I had changed cords, screamed at the gods, etc., it started working again. I fully expect to have the issue again in the future, so I'm thinking I'll try to splurge on one during the Thanksgiving day sales. In short, if I spend a bunch of money on a new TV and I don't add more than 5-10 inches of viewing pleasure, I'll be quite disappointed in myself.

Two words:  Samsung.

Some more words:  My 47" (TAILWIND) 1080p, 120 Hz flat panel LCD is the ball steaks.  The colors are great.  It gets the very best picture on NFL Network, MLB Network and the Golf Channel.  FX and FOX come in very clear as well.  WGN's HD is also very good, for whenever our favorite baseball team is playing.  Sorry, I don't get FSN St. Louis.
