Thanks for the tips, guys.  The 31st Street lot sounds like a winner, although the prospect of meeting Wheezer is certainly tempting.  Is anyone else actually going to the game?

There's a 60% chance I'm going. I'll be in the Adler Lot if I do.

Hey, dudes.  I need Bears-related assistance.  I'm going to a game for the first time since the McNabb playoff disaster in '01, and I need relevant tailgating advice.  How much is parking?  Are charcoal grills allowed?  How early can you get there?  Is it okay to throw full beers at Packer fans?  What about bricks?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I was there too, and all I remember, aside from the great Jim Miller getting hurt and some obnoxious Eagles fan in our section who left before the 4th quarter to avoid getting murdered by angry drunk Bears fans, was bulldozers driving past us as we left to tear the stadium apart.  How perfect.  How poignant.  Damn that game sucked.

No.  720 and plasma.  Although Slak is right, the Aristocrats looks like a good tv show.

For $660, not a bad deal at all.  But, as noted, not 1080p (helps for blu-ray only at this point). Check to see if it has at least 3 HDMI inputs (required) and for extras like PIP.

Really, at this point, that's an ideal second big screen.  Mazel tov if you can afford / have space for 2.

If that's the general price range you're looking at, I'd get this one over it.
A little smaller, but better.

Unless you can find one in your price range that has 120Hz, which is sploogetastically sploogearific.
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.

Thanks.  That's the general prices range, so that's helpful.  I know nothing about all of this -- what's so spectacular about the 120Hz?

I decided to skip Paris and go straight to London just to watch that shitfest.  I found a sports bar in London called The Sports Bar.  We got there really early -- I had just come in from Barcelona and we went straight to the bar from the airport -- so we were able to snag an awesome booth.  there were only two of us, so we ended sharing the booth with a couple from Glenview.  It turned out the guy was married, but was not with his wife (or something like that, the exact details escape me, but they were somewhat scandalous).  They were so grateful for having a seat, that the guy picked up our tab (we'd been drinking for about 5 or 6 hours, at least, by the end of the game).

The bar was filled with Bears fans downstairs and Eagles fans upstairs.

It was a good time, other than the stinking game.

If you read that story the till the end, please provide the point yourself.

It's basically the frames per second, 60 vs. 120.

The 60s are fine, it's what I have now, but some of the newer more expensive TVs are 120 HZ and the color seems a lot richer.
I'm sure there's a more technical reason, but just from looking @ TVs in the store,  the 120Hz always seem to be the best pictures around.

Granted, it may just be because they have other features that are better as well, since they're pricier.

For 60Hz (which is still totally fine), this is a good value also

From what I've seen, the speed of everything on the screen is much faster. It probably appears that way because no movement is blurred, fast or slow. The 120Hz technology has been a must-have on a TV for me, but I'll probably stick with mine for at least a couple more years, so I'll be looking into 240Hz or 480Hz if they have that by then.

I just threw down 480 for a 37-inch JVC 1080p LCD.  It's beautiful and, in my opinion, appropriately sized for the apartment.

Any HDTV you get should be 1080p, as most HD programming will be native 1080p in the future.  Gotta think prospectively, as well.
