What should Hendry be looking for?  Apart from Bob shitting the bed last night, the bullpen's been pretty decent of late and can expect to have Dempster (and Wood, too?) back after the break.  Buh-bye, Scott Eyre.  Pretty much everybody (with the possible exception of Lee) has been hot with the bat, too.  I'm not saying that the Cubs don't need a certain je-ne-sais-quoi to put them over the hump, but I'm not just quite sure what it is.

How about catcher, center field and middle infield?

Do you trust Theriot and Fontenot over a whole season?  Fonty's OPB is only 20 points higher than his BA.  And, if you play DeRosa at second, right field becomes a problem.

Catcher and centerfield are ably defended.  But, while you can live with one of those positions being an automatic out, two won't cut it.  And the one guy of the four players in those positions who seems to hit, Angel Pagan, is the last remaining stupid player on the team that gets playing time.

Bob Howry, Scott Eyre and Ryan Dempster inspire as much faith as an image of the Virgin Mary in highway salt.

Don't forget, as bad as the Cardinals have been, they are only 2 locc column games behind the Cubs.  This Cub team is still closer to third place than to first.  There's a lot of work to do on this team.  Most of the losers are gone, and that's a huge plus.  Some of the guys who ARE here, still aren't good enough.

Don't get satisfied.

I love what Lou has done in three months.  What's disgusting is that Hendry didn't bring in Lou LAST JULY!!!  This team would be 10 to 15 games over right now as you would not have had Jacque.  Howry and Eyre would have taken last September off.  Pie would have played all September.  As would Theriot and Fontenot.

Hendry's going to go down as one of the worst GM's in team history.
