According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Mark DeRosa is "suffering from a torn tendon sheath that casts doubt on his return" following the All-Star break.

Analysis:

More deception and shadiness from the Cardinals' medical staff. General manager John Mozeliak told reporters Tuesday afternoon that DeRosa's placement on the disabled list was a "precautionary move," but now it's not clear if he'll be able to return before the end of July. "I don't know all the jargon. But there is definitely something wrong with it," DeRosa said Tuesday. "There is definitely a partial tear of the sheath. It's one of those things where you hope time allows it to heal itself."
