My team was too slow, weak, and unmotivated to even reach last season's meager peak of making the playoffs.  An 11th place finish should be enough to fire myself.  I blame Roy Oswalt.

The league is open.  I'm on top of it.  Of course.  Get in quick.  You guys know who you are.  If you were in it last year, then the invite's been sent.  If you don't get in pretty soon, then we'll get someone to take over your team.  Believe it.  There are literally 2 people wanting in on this thing.  That's just a guess.  There might be less.  But do it quickly or I'll bust up this league like a high school kegger.

My vote is 4.  It's one more than 3, but it's 2 less than 6.

We should also decide where we want the keepers drafted.  I can assign them to rounds, so it's not big deal.  I'd be down with going off of last year's round-drafted.  Or something like that.  Lemme know.  Don't just keep quiet and the gripe about it once it's too late to do anything.  I expect that from some people, but not from everyone.  We can also adjust any settings or crap that people didn't like from last year.

I like the idea of the round your keeper was drafted in last year plus two.  So, if the player you are keeping was taken in the sixth round last season, he will be your fourth round pick in the 2010 draft.  (This also forces the entire first two rounds of picks from 2009 back into the 2010 draft.)  My team was so bad last season that I doubt there was anyone worth keeping, but the rest of you should be able to return four players that you drafted.  Free agents singed during the season go back in the pool.  Just my two cents worth.  I'll now be quiet until draft day.

I'm out. Someone can have my spot and any keepers I might have claimed.

I'll take Apex's spot if it hasn't been promised to someone cooler.

This.
is.
dumb.

Who would keep a 3rd rounder if you'd lose your first round pick?  You should lose your round that you drafted him in last year.  If you choose to keep him again next year, then you lose your draft pick for the round before that.  For instance, if you drafted Nelson Cruz in the 17th round and keep him this year, you lose your 17th round pick.  If you keep him again next year, you lose your 16th rounder.  and so on.
Because when you're fighting for your man, experience is a mutha'.

The two round bump is the point... it forces you to think hard about the value of player versus what you give up in position.  If we are allowing everyone to keep their top players at no real cost to them, why would anyone throw back one of their top round picks from last season unless the guy's arm fell off?  We use this rule in other leagues and it rewards the mid to low round steals while keeping the All Stars from setting up permanent residence on a roster.

Either way, I was throwing it out there for discussion.
