I got a jorb too. I'm a managing editor for a black news magazine. Well, they're a newspaper right now but they don't know they're about to make a big change of direction. And they're not a black publication per se. Not yet.

Thanks. As far as what I'm doing, I will have an on-air shift every weekday. Weekend duties aren't completely clear yet, but I will have an on-air shift on one day of a weekend most weekends. When not on air, I will do some news and sports copy-writing, commercial production and voicework. I also will have to do a little news reporting, but they have agreed to let me get settled in to the other parts of the job before I have to start doing some of that.

Apex mentioned sports, unfortunately from what they have said there will be no sports for me (Except copy-writing for newscasts) for at least a month. They had cut back from three to two full-time sports people around the middle of last year. They told me two nights ago that if it seems I am working out after a month or so, I would get some sports work. They said that they have had a tough time covering some things they had previously always covered, so I am hopeful their desire to get those things covered again will have them assign me to some sports reporting, play-by-play or color analysis by early Spring. I actually thought of maybe negotiating to get some guaranteed sports role by a certain time, but I decided not to push it too much when we talked yesterday. We agreed on starting date and salary and most other things yesterday. I start Feb. 4.
