BTW, this lady was also at the game yesterday.  You know, the gal who is so serious about her scorekeeping that the eraser at the end of her Cubs pencil just won't suffice. 

That's right...that's an eraser tucked under her hat.

There was also this cat about three rows in front of me taping most of the game action with his handheld camcorder.    Because, you know, that's much better than setting your VCR or DVR and having to deal with WGN's shitty high-def footage and multiple camera angles.

Where else would we get all those quality Youtube uploads?The camera work on the Fukudome opening day homerun would have made Spielberg nauseous.

The Cubs keep trying out walkout music for Wood (Yesterday was "Welcome To The Jungle"). Wood has said he'd just as soon have the organist play.

Wood is bad-ass.

Cannot believe this doesn't exist, but Kerry has 3 saves this week, today getting Lee to a soft grounder and blowing away Tejada.  The opening day outing was a bit unpleasant but he's now looking like I thought he would look and how NL batters feared he would look.

Was at the game last night. There were some Orioles fans sitting near us and they were making some noise after Ward struck out to end the 8th.
After just two Wood pitches at the start of the ninth I caught them shaking their heads as they realized what they were seeing.

A dominant closer?  Yes, I still believe that.  A dominant bullpen, another story altogether.  In fact, I would argue this Cubs bullpen is an argument for why spending resources on a dominant closer is foolish.  Wood, Marmol, and Howry cost less than Wagner.  Which would you rather have?

I still think Marmol is just as valuable as Wood. Maybe more so. It is nice to have both though.

Still, if he keeps this up...maybe it's just naiveté on my part...I see the Cubs paying him whatever he deserves and keeping him here. He's been fucking awesome.

Fine.  So, you throw in Marmol and fill out a bullpen from there.  Bullpens are made up of spare parts.  Closers should be no different.

Of course the Hendry has that point under his nose and will still give a college kid $5MM to be  a middle reliever.  Ugh.

Then again, I'm assuming the Gutless Assholes have unlimited resources...so, who cares how much it costs.
