I just reread this.

And I just actually bothered to click through to this article and read it for the first time:

Quote from: SKO on August 15, 2011, 12:37:11 PM
"There was this other group warming up ... and they were terrible. I said, 'Shut them cunts up!' And they were still warming up, so I threw a bottle at them ... I just thought they were a load of retarded Irish folk singers."

Quote18. Nick Cave on Red Hot Chili Peppers

"I'm forever near a stereo saying, 'What the fuck is this garbage?' And the answer is always the Red Hot Chili Peppers."

Inhumane.
Loor and I came acrossks like opatoets.

the new hold steady record is outstanding and this is coming from someone who wouldn't say they're intimate with their catalog at all.

Word is it's a return to form - apparently their recent output has been less than satisfactory.

Not sure if my lack of knowledge around their discography hurts or helps my take but listen to this. Super enjoyable.

I'd mostly agree with that, but would probably stop short of calling it outstanding. I loved "Boys and Girls in America" -- probably one of my favorite albums from 2006.

"Stay Positive" and "Heaven is Whenever" while both listenable were fairly forgettable.

I'd say their new record is pretty solid. Somewhere between those last two and "Boys and Girls."

Their new album sounds like the Hold Steady, but is terribly forgettable. Just like their last album. If you're just listening to them, I understand the appeal, it's a great sound, but after a few albums of it, it all starts to run together.

New Wye Oak album is streaming now: http://www.npr.org/2014/04/20/303395246/first-listen-wye-oak-shriek

Goddamn these guys are great. This one's not guitar oriented, which was concerning when I first heard that - but this is excellent. What an excellent band.

Banner Pilot is good, they sound similar to Jawbox.  The Menzingers are great as well. If you like rock/punk style music.

Setting expectation, they aren't as good. But they are admittedly heavily influenced.

I don't think Bort'd disagree with that (nor would I).
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Definitely better than basically anyone Yeti would listen to.
