Bump.  Imagine the reaction in the land of Bologna sammiches.

http://www.chicagobreakingbusiness.com/2010/03/cubs-want-huge-illuminated-billboard-at-wrigley-field.html

Also, I love this particular line:
QuoteTunney wants to make sure the proposed billboard will not block fans' views of the surrounding neighborhood.
Yeah, I'm sure that's the concern... fans want to see the neighborhood.

Al will settle for it to say TORCO like the good ol' days of the bleacher season ticket boom, when Wrigley became a FAN EXPERIENCE.
You two wanna go stick your wangs in a hornet's nest, it's a free country.  But how come I always gotta get sloppy seconds, huh?

Bump

From today's hilarity entitled, "How To Fix The Cubs' Bullpen" comes this:

"If you're looking to replace Marmol as closer (I'm not), your second choice might be Heath Bell."

So, we see Al can regurgitate Bruce Levine.

But, only 231 words later, we get this:

"Move Carlos Zambrano to closer."

Let's ignore the stupidity of the concept.  Does the guy even read what he writes?

Wow.

A .691 OPS after 10 games is reason enough to abandon a 19 year old former first round draft pick. Who the hell does Yellon think he is, PenFoe?
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

To be fair, Vitters' line in 50 games at Daytona last year was hardly inspiring. But still, cut bait on a 20-year-old first-round pick?

I love how Al is upset that Vitters is "repeating" class A.  He only played 50 games at high-A last year, most of them with a bad wrist, and he was 19 years old in a league normally full of 22 and 23 year olds.  His awful start to this season now includes a .280 batting average in a whopping 12 games.

Al needs to stop eating paint chips with his bologna sandwiches.

Oh, and Zambrano might end up doing a stint in the bullpen, but it won't be as the closer, it'll be in the Jeff Samardzija "let's see if we can put this out of reach" role in the sixth and seventh.

Even for Al, this is a new low.

He's selling t-shirts again (still with a ripped off Cubs logo) and this time he's donating money to the "Dempster Family Foundation."

The shirts http://is.gd/bFneD cost $21.99 and Al is donating $1.50 per shirt to the foundation.

What a fucking asshole.

I saw Cubs Anal on the newsstand at the CVS the other day, and I had a hearty chuckle.  I mean, that had to be intentional, right?  RIGHT?

To eliminate speculation. Al, do you make any profit at all from the sale of this shirt?

The lead-up to Al admitting that he gets a cut is a triumph of Yellon aggression...

Quote from: kanderber$1.50?

That's it?

Why aren't ALL profits going to the foundation? Sorry Al, I'm not interested in donating to your bank account. I'll pass.

Quote from: cubsonWGN4everDid Al shoot your dog or something?

Quote from: kanderberNo, he didn't...

I like Al and love his site. Got nothing against the guy at all.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but donating just $1.50 seems awfully weak.

Quote from: Al YellonYeah, you're missing something here.

I am working on getting some more donations made available for this promotion.

Quote from: kanderberWhat am I missing?

It's a $22 T-shirt, of which you're donating $1.50 to Dempster's foundation. If you want to sell products to make money, go for it. I'm all for entrepreneurialism. But trying to pass it off as a "BCB Fundraiser" for Ryan Dempster's charity is incredibly weak.

Quote from: Al YellonYou have no idea of the costs.

Nor do I. This store isn't set up by me. It's a fundraiser. Bashing it with no information is... how do you say it? Incredibly weak.

So he asked. And what he was missing was that Al was planning to take a 40% cut of the profit before donating the rest.

But Al's totally willing to consider donating that, too, now that you know about it. Provided everyone tells him he should.

Quote from: HoSs.Thanks Al!

I appreciate your honesty. I think that if your $1 is going towards paying the cost of either advertising the shirt or the maintenance of the site, I'm all for it. But if it's pure profit, I think you should change the wording to the effect of "New BCB Shirts are out. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Dempster's fund."

It's a wording issue. When McDonalds donates a dollar from every sale to a charity (as an example) we are aware that they're still making a profit. If you call it a "fundraiser" there should be no profits...just money used to fund the project and the donation.

It's semantics but just throwing it out there. A great thing either way.

The cost of advertising the shirt or maintaining the site?

Al's legion of lick-spittles only dare criticize him with the softest of touches.
