I'm now totally on board with death panels.

I keep looking for death panel openings on Monster. Would I be better off on a Government site?
I'd be down for that. Maybe we can start our own death panel. What's more American than using the entreprenuerial spirit to make a cheap buck on human misery?

I'm banking on the inevitable civil war.  But yeah, we've got a shitload of problems.

We have problems because people protest, some of whom carry ridiculous signs? Is this sort of like a Milton Bradley "environment of negativity?"

Yes.  It's as simple as that.

Dissent, coupled with visceral and visible racial hatred [and a healthy dollop of armed crazies] is not patriotic.  This is fucking healthcare.  Where were all of these protesters when we debated whether to send our men and women to die in a useless war in a country that really didn't threaten us at all?

I can see getting worked up over that.  Healthcare, not so much.

It absolutely is.

There's also a difference between dissent and firing up the low-hanging fruit.

Anyone who doesn't see this ending with an assassination attempt is delusional.

Yep, that's pretty much where we're headed. Can't fucking wait.

I look forward to hearing Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, and Hannity say they called it, when in reality, all three men have probably done more to encourage any potential violence than any other person in the country at the moment.

This is the 90s all over again.  Worse, considering the President is black.

Good thing I don't work in the Federal Building in LA.

That's why there's a Secret Service. Don't think any protester even making an off-handed remark about violence against the President isn't getting a thorough checking-out. And rightfully so.

Have Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh incited violence? I don't see it. Maybe they've fired people up, maybe beyond reason, but I don't think they've incited violence.

But the fact we have crazies who brought stupid signs, a couple of them racially tinged, a couple of them glorifying violence is not a new development. The country survived much worse.  Those pictures of protesters were nice, but nothing new. When W was in power, I saw enough protest pictures that would make most of the Left cringe (at least I hope they would).

And on healthcare, sure people can get fired up over that. Why shouldn't they, especially if it affects them on a day-to-day basis?

I'm against protesting, but I have no way of showing it.

Mitch Hedberg, RIP.
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

Again, they protested because of a war.  However, on health care, what I fail to see is the comprehension from these protesters that there is a problem with health care in this country.  If someone can at least agree to that fundamental precept, then we are okay and can have a debate.  However, by the looks of it, these people are too busy holding up signs announcing our health care system as the BEST IN THE WORLD!!! USA 4 EVA!!!  PALIN 2012!!!  When, in reality, it's 37th.  We have insurers dropping coverage for whatever reasons they see fit in pursuit of an extra international airport for their CEO [Yale could use an international airport, Mr. Burns].  We have about 45,000 Americans dying per year because of poor health coverage.

But, heaven forbid, I'm gonna protest because the gubmint shouldnt be takin over the health care in this here country!!  This plan would disproportionately help the South, but NOOOOO can't have any of that.

Finally, you need to listen to more of Limbaugh and Beck, because if you don't see how they are inciting people, then you aren't listening at all.  May I introduce Brownie to Jim David Adkisson?

We live in a country where everyone accepts the laws that mandate everyone have insurance for their cars and mortgaged homes, but regulation and public availability of health insurance is SOCIALISM!

Health care, shmealth care. Tom Coburn's chief of staff has his finger on the pulse of the throbbing, veiny issues that really matter:

Quote"Pornography is a blight," Schwartz told an audience in a crowded room of the Omni Shoreham hotel. "It is a disaster. It is one of those silent diseases in our society that we haven't been able to overcome very well. Now, I may be getting politically incorrect here. And it's been a few years, but not that many, since I was closely associated with pre-adolescent boys, boys around 10 years of age. But it is my observation that boys of that age have less tolerance for homosexuality than just about any other class of people. They speak badly about homosexuality. And that's because they don't want to be that way. They don't want to fall into it."

Schwartz told the crowd about Jim Johnson, a friend of his who turned an old hotel into a hospice for gay men dying of AIDS. "One of the things he said to me," said Schwartz, "that I think is an astonishingly insightful remark... he said 'All pornography is homosexual pornography, because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards."

There were murmurs and gasps from the crowd. "Now, think about that," said Schwartz. "And if you tell an 11-year-old boy about that, do you think he's going to want to get a copy of Playboy? I'm pretty sure he'll lose interest. That's the last thing he wants! You know, that's a good comment, it's a good point, and it's a good thing to teach young people."
