OK.  I've rented the first season.  Maybe it's the cold I've got, but I totally missed the "There's money in the banana stand" line.  I was sure he was talking about the insurance.

You gotta smile when Portia De "Rosie" gives her husband a detestful look as she asks if he is gay.

And I love H.O.O.P.

That's awesome.  I can't wait for season 2 to come out on DVD.

I hope Fox learns from what they found out with 24 this year.  They are running 24 in 24 consecutive weeks and the ratings have never been higher, even though it doesn't have it's old American Idol lead in.

With a show like Arrested where the jokes build from one show to the next Fox needs to pick a time slot and leave it (which, to its credit it did this year behind The Simpsons), but don't take it off for two or three weeks at a time.  It's easy to get lost.

I also, can't wait for the Season Two DVDs, which I think I read are due out in September. 

They are going to run season two again this summer, too.

Does the show pick up as it moves along?  I just finished Season 1, Disc 1.  Eps 1-6.  They strike me as "Curb Lite."  Funny, but not as bitingly nasty.  And the GOB whistling teeth was just unfunny (outside of when he dressed up as a delivery man).

It's good, but not great so far.  Perhaps because they were feelign their way around, it hadn't kicked in high gear yet?

Am I right, or is the show just missing me?

I'd say watch the first season all the way through before forming an opinion. The humor builds off of each episode as Andy mentioned.

See Chuck, you're not in the demo they're going for with the Hebe humor.  They're looking for guys like me who don't understand it and just laugh.

See, now they do an ep like "Public Relations" and they start to hook me.

Jessie: Your father's religious now? We'll play that up. It's very sympathetic.
Lucille: Yeah. Who doesn't love the Jews?

Jessie: Daddy lost his shot at happy and it's all your fault, Opie.
Narrator: Jessie had gone too far and she had best watch her mouth.

Waitress: Plate or platter?
Lucille: I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it.

GOB: He was very quiet in there (referring to Earl Milford)

Now, that's good stuff.  The "Next on" was the only week point.  Of course Earl was gonna be dead.

You'll notice that "Next on...Arrested Development" rarely ever is really on the next one.
