If Soriano drives in a 100 runs on a team with only one regular with an OBP above .320, would that in any way compare to Steve Carlton's 27 win season for a 59 win team?  Just spitballin' here, but that strikes me as a pretty impressive accomplishment.

He'd be the third to do so1. Nate Colbert2 had 111 RBIs for the 1972 Padres and Tony Perez had 102 RBIs for the 1967 Reds. Colbert's season is more impressive, not just because he tallied an extra 9 ribbies (!), but because he knocked in 22.7% of all runs that the Fathers scored that year. The '67 Reds scored 604 runs, so Perez "only" accounted for 16.9% of their runs. Fonsie is sitting at 18.6% -- 88 RBIs out of the 472 runs the Cubbies (!) have scored

1. This assumes a "regular" is any member of the same team with at least 300 plate appearances.
2. Who the fuck is Nate Colbert?3
3. This is Nate Colbert:

In that magical year of 1972, he had 5 dongs and 13 of those 111 ribbies in a doubleheader against the Braves.

Dusty was with Braves at the time. I'm sure Hank Aaron did something even more special.

This guy had a hell of a five year span from 1969 to 1973. What happened to him? He didn't hit for much of an average but the guy could flat out slug.

Also, bring back Jack Murphy Stadium.

EDIT: back problems ended his career at 30. That sucks. This guy would have been fun to watch on a shitty team.

Soriano two-run dinger to put the Cubs up 4-2 in the eighth.  Moves to 28/94.

I would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite Chuck to go and fuck himself.

You are absolutely correct, yet I don't think you understand what's going on here (with you being Australian and all).

That's three FYCs in one inning.

This thread is by far the highlight of this Cubs season. Second would be Rizzo dongs. A distant second.

Nice to know Soriano is great when the Cubs lose 100 games.

Feels like landing a playoff berth and then being swept out.

Why, it's almost like you automatically interpret any information about Soriano in the worst possible light in order to confirm your deeply held beliefs about him!

Soriano is awesome when they win 88-90+ games and when they lose 100. It's everything in between that makes him awful.

God dammit, Pex. That's two out of every three years. You just gave Chuck a raging haterection.
