When it comes to fucking Chuck, RBIs are the most valuable statistic.

If Soriano drives in a 100 runs on a team with only one regular with an OBP above .320, would that in any way compare to Steve Carlton's 27 win season for a 59 win team?  Just spitballin' here, but that strikes me as a pretty impressive accomplishment.

He'd be the third to do so1. Nate Colbert2 had 111 RBIs for the 1972 Padres and Tony Perez had 102 RBIs for the 1967 Reds. Colbert's season is more impressive, not just because he tallied an extra 9 ribbies (!), but because he knocked in 22.7% of all runs that the Fathers scored that year. The '67 Reds scored 604 runs, so Perez "only" accounted for 16.9% of their runs. Fonsie is sitting at 18.6% -- 88 RBIs out of the 472 runs the Cubbies (!) have scored

1. This assumes a "regular" is any member of the same team with at least 300 plate appearances.
2. Who the fuck is Nate Colbert?3
3. This is Nate Colbert:

I was all ready to use this information, but LaHair and DeJesus have an OBP of .320+, and Rizzo is 17 PAs from the arbitrary "300 PAs" that ChuckD picked.

They need to play LaHair every day so it keeps going down, and then they'll only have 2 with OBP over .320, granted both Rizzo and DeJesus will probably wind up over .350.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Castro went 4 for 5 last night to reach .320 exactly.

Nonetheless, I want to hear Internet Chuck admit that 30/103 (and counting) on a shitty team, 12 assists, 6 DPs and one solitary error is anything but awful, awful.  Come on, Internet Chuck.  For me.  You can do it.

Internet Chuck says that Soriano is a modern day McStiff who'd be eating his own ass if the Cubs were a competitive team. No, wait, that's me saying that.

If Internet Chuck never existed, I might have been able to go along with this for a bit, but Internet Chuck has made Soriano super sympathetic to me, so I'm going to have to say: No, Kurt.

Baseball Prospectus says "Get fucked, Chuck."

Quote from: Epstink
"I think if teams pursue him in a trade we will consider it and see if it makes our future better and makes us a better organization going forward," Epstein said. "But he's got value to us because he helps us win games, he provides protection in the lineup, and he's a great example for our younger players to follow in the clubhouse."

Wait, people in the front office are allowed to say nice things about guys on the trading block, so they can hold value? Who knew?
