No mention yet of the fact that Silva was hurt for nearly the entire season last year?  Since May 6th, he's made 2 fucking starts.  At least he'll be well-rested.

He can break Herman Franks' record for most pinstripes on a home uniform.

Never mind.  Maybe that's what this bit of complete nonsense means:

What's the over/under of people in the bleachers getting Tommy John disease on days Silva pitches?

Today sucks enough already, so you might as well explain what in God's name that means.  Are the people in the bleachers going to throw rotten vegetables at him?  Is there a new, airborne strain of TJD?  Do you just have to post something nonsensical in every thread?

At Wrigley Field, it is a tradition to throw back the home run balls of opposing players.

This trade is just breath-taking in its stupidity.

Just release the fucking guy if this is the best you can do.

That's the upside of the trade; with any luck, Silva will be too hurt to pitch.

The only way the whole Milton Bradley era -- from signing to trade -- could be made worse is for Hendry to extend Silva.

I'd put an assassination attempt on Silva happening before that.

If you did that today, do we still have to pay him?

The big problem with this trade, is that if one of these expensive guys is most likely going to get paid not to play (for different reasons)....why not keep the guy who MIGHT, just might have some trade value later in the season?

You now have a commodity that will never, ever have a speck of trade value.   The Cubs are fucking stuck with this guy.  And they have two years of paying him what will net out to be only $6M less than Bradley.

But he's not a cancer...so put a skirt and some lipstick on him and see if he can lift Mike Fontenot's "spirit"?

I don't know...that's the best I can make of this trade.

My earliest personal recollection is from BP before this game,
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

The best that I can make out of this is that I'm retarded for being a Cubs fan.

My earliest personal recollection is from BP before this game,

It started with the Bleacher Bums in the late 60s/early 70s, then died out when guys like Bill Bonham, Ray Burris and Oscar Zamora turned the bleachers into an artillery range. Picked up in the mid-80s with the success of the '84 team combined with the play "Bleacher Bums", where they talk about throwing back opposing home run balls.

I don't understand all the anger today. Yeah this is a horrible trade, but did anybody really expect anything better? They weren't going to keep Bradley under any circumstances. The anger should have came when they destroyed any value he had. A trade this shitty has been inevitable for weeks.
