Anyone giving THE GAME a shot this week? I'm curious how the locals are reacting. All I know is they worked super hard on their logo.

Do you love Jonathan Brandmeier, Buzz Killman, and every c-lister who appeared on a WLUP show during the late 80's?

THEN HAVE I GOT A STATION FOR YOU

This guy (who was retweeted by the Game — the Chicago one, not the San Francisco station by the same name) apparently just moved to Chicago this week.  I hope he's ready for some hot sports takes.

Who is on your NBA Mount Rushmore? CUTTING EDGE SPORTZ

Pearl Washington, Richard Jefferson, T.R. Dunn, and ... shit.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim?

Can I just have Darryl Dawkins 4 times?

LeBron, LeBron's dong, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird.

DRLP? WGN Radio Hires Julie DiCaro for 'The Game' and More.

You know what? Good for her.

Not to mention the Yellon asshurt that has to be percolating.

Not sure - he's built up quite a legion of dipshit cronies. He's got nothing to be jealous of.

He's no longer the Cubs blogger with the biggest soapbox. Trust me - it might not manifest itself right away, but it's cooking.

The hell is this cryptic garbage

Fork's BFF Fels, I assume.

SQDPD

And really, would Fels--or anybody for that matter-- really want to focus on stealing Al's unique demographic of manchildren, shut-ins and pre-adolescents?   I think anybody who would actively seek to recruit this bunch would deserve exactly the group of drooling retards that (s)he would end up with.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Al's asshurt is strictly my analysis (such as it is) based upon Al's reaction to anybody getting access he can't get (remember Kerm and Hendry?).

Julie will now have full access through WGN, which I assume based upon her writings will be used more constructively than trying to ask part of Cubs ownership who owns the Cubs.

FWIW, I also expect that WGN will just keep reaching out to anybody who is on Chicago Now, as it will be easier to get them on board then anybody else. They can always build out later if they (or whatever listeners they get) don't like what they get out of these people.

SPOILER ALERT: Chuck ruined Kerm's chance at a jorb

She has good opinions on the Cubs that most of you would agree with. So it's a good thing if this station is actually going to be a thing.

My understanding is that the 87.7 license has an expiration date, so they're on something of a deadline.

I think thats true, but the thinking is that, before that expiration date,  the newspaper businesses will be spun off from the radio and TV businesses, so that it will no longer be subject to the radio and TV ownership limitations that the current Tribune is now subject to.  At that point, they can buy another station in the market with a better signal.

The format is better suited to AM anyway.

I believe I've read that they've leased the frequency through September of 2015.

I've never had any hate for Julie (although I think I was the one who started the "WE SUPPORT YOU" thread all those years ago) so it'd be nice if her hiring represented some kind of departure from what appears to be the depressing norm there.

I've listened to the Brandmeier show at times during the morning and he's still basically doing his WLUP show from the early 90's.  They're running the consistently terrible Harry Teinowitz and Spike Manton in afternoon drive.  Kaplan is going to be teamed with David Haugh.  I'm not sure there are words in the English language to express the potential for badness contained in that pairing.

Has anybody figured out a way to get Kaplan to actually be around consistently? The Bernfield-Carman Show Occasionally Featuring David Kaplan didn't seem to pull it off, nor (thankfully) did "Sports Night" before it.
