Exactly, you have to be proactive.  Since you know that at some point Theo will leave the job either through retirement, death or firing, it's better to just replace him now.

It was mentioned to me, off the grid, by another Desipiot that one of the BP guys shared with him that this guy may be on the spectrum.  I don't know if that explains anything; I mean my wife--an OT who works with autistic kids all day-- thinks I'm on the fringe of the spectrum myself and though I'm a belligerent asshole I don't make it a habit of consistently hurling out provocative contrarianisms all the live long day, but I figured I might as well throw that nugget out there for your consumption.
