Incredibly dumb.  Why would anyone buy a ticket to see a game in June if they don't really start playing until September?  Who is this person?
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

It'd be nice if Julie could text the Cubs before every play and tell them whether it matters or not so they know if they should try.

Wait--does the person making the point that the Cubs are *truly* only 10 games over .500 have a point and of so, can someone explain to me the logic (Bruce's post didn't really help me in that regard?

Secondly...  Is the person who e-mailed Bruce believed to be Chuck?  That might clue me in here. Otherwise I'm a little lost.

Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

I suspect their "logic" is that if the Cubs replaced 10 of their wins with losses, they would be at 24-24. That's the only way that it makes sense to me.

This debate happened last year right around the same time that idiots started arguing what "batting around" means (AT LEAST ONE GUY HAS TO BAT TWICE. FUCK YOU IF YOU DISAGREE) and yeah the argument was "shouldn't the reference point for .500 be whatever the .500 mark is for the # of games played", so .500 for 48 games is 24-24, they have played 10 games better than a .500 team at this point in the season.

It is a dumb argument and the traditional way is correct.

A) It wasn't me.

B) This was a running bit on the old ESPN 1000 Bill Simonson Huge Show about how to determine games over .500. Simonson would do the "It's only 10, not 20" thing to drum up stupid callers.  I suppose I'm friendly enough with Bruce that I got suckered in to answering.  I'm guessing Bruce was smart enough to never have listened to Simonson.

C) You are a little lost.
