Time to put Colvin and his "above-average but potentially really crappy we're not really sure" defense at 1B?

Lee is gone after this year, Nady as well, there aren't any great 1B prospects in the system...seems worth a shot.

How well does his bat really project at first base, though? More than any other position on the field, that's your "power" spot, no? And I'm aware his OPS is ludicrous right now in 100ish PA, but isn't he a 25-30, .850ish corner outfield guy at Best?
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

If they are "experimenting", why not stick soriano at first? I'd probably tune in to watch the hilarity of Soriano try to pick balls at first.

Given the Cubs are going to unload Lilly and Lee's combined $25 million salary, doesn't that mean Adrian Gonzalez should be the prime target to take 1st?

I heart this.
This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

Technically, his bat is less valuable there, yes, but it's better than having Lee and his blistering .700 OPS.

Sigh. Please fill in your own irrational defense of Derrek Lee for me. I'm too tired to keep it up.

It's a sad depressing state. I love the light dark man, but he's old. I hope the Cubs trade him, but I know they can't get all that much for him.

Why would the Cubs put one of their better defensive outfielders at first base?  Is it as simple as he's lefthanded and white?

No, it's because if they want to get Colvin playing time it has to come at someone else's expense and D-Lee is the worst guy out there in a position that Colvin could possibly play.
