Ryan Kesler has been on quite a roll of late.

At the recent Olympics, he scored in the men's hockey final and emerged with a silver medal as part of an impressive young U.S. team. Since returning to the Vancouver Canucks, he has three goals in four games -- with two of those goals coming in Detroit near where he grew up in Livonia.

And now the 25-year-old can celebrate being the cover athlete for the NHL 2K11 video game, following in the footsteps of Alexander Ovechkin, Rick Nash, Jason Spezza, Joe Thornton, Marty Turco, Martin St. Louis, Jeremy Roenick, Chris Drury and Brendan Shanahan.

A truly cowardly choice.

Publisher 2K Sports is taking a year off from the NHL 2K franchise for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, developing NHL 2K11 for the Nintendo Wii only, parent company Take-Two Interactive announced.  Joystiq reports Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick says developers will use the time to "refine, re-design and rethink" the franchise. Studio Visual Concepts (NBA 2K) took over development duties for the NHL franchise in 2008, starting with NHL 2K9. However, the series has been overshadowed by Electronic Arts' competing NHL series, which has garnered critical praise as one of the best sports titles overall.

I think Fork liked the one that had Patrick Kane on it but I can't imagine a sports game like that on the Wii being too great. Kind of shitty for 2K but their sports games are shitty. Fits 'em.

Sucks to get one point out of what should of been a 4 point weekend.  I thought Niemi was good in this one, but was in the crapper when the Caps scored the two quick ones to tie it up.  Were they bad goals (NBC refused to speak of it)?
