Sucks to get one point out of what should of been a 4 point weekend.  I thought Niemi was good in this one, but was in the crapper when the Caps scored the two quick ones to tie it up.  Were they bad goals (NBC refused to speak of it)?

One was a wierd bounce off the boards that went right to Backstrom, and the other was ripped past Niemi.

Both would have been prevented with even a competent backcheck.

Backstrom's goal came on a quick poke at a hard bounce off the end boards, the result of a slapper from a d-man that Niemi played as if it were a pass to the forward standing his post.

The tying goal came when Steckel beat Hammer to an iced puck, won the board battle and fed it out to Fehr (in the slot, uncovered by Kane and Brouwer) for a one-timer.

So both were one-time chances on pucks coming from behind the goal line.

Ovechkin is a lot better than Crosby at severely injuring opposing players on dirty/cheap hits.  I'll give him that.

But it's not exactly a secret that Ovechkin has no class and takes advantage of being able to get away with murder.
