Can I continue to love Kerry Wood and still hate the dumb-as-balls "ACE WARES TURTYFOUR" idea? As someone still asshurt that they retired Greg Maddux's 31, I find that notion appalling.

I like the retirement of Maddux's 31 as a constant reminder of just how fucking stupid that particular regime was to let him go in the first place.

Look if retiring a number just to spite Larry Himes who probably wouldn't notice or care anyway isn't the logical move here I don't know what logic is anymore.

I think Larry Himes posts here. Didn't he just check in the other day to disparage the Lester deal, saying that for the same amount of money they could have had both Francisco Liriano AND some other slapdick?

I like it. It's a good thing to have hanging on a foul pole. Though I am too young to remember his hayday, and don't understand the reasons why he left for Texas, I know that Jenkins pitched 12 seasons for the Cubs, winning 20 games seven times. He won the Cy Young in a Cubs uniform and although he did pitch well for Texas, finishing in the top 10 for Cy Young twice he never made the all-star team for any other club.

It's not the same thing. At least not to me. Maybe old people get butthurt about it.

Fergie fucking ruled. Not only because he could match up against any pitcher in baseball, but because he worked so fucking fast that you could cut school to go to a game and still get home early enough that your parents never got suspicious.

To Fork's point, in 1971 by he threw 263 strikeouts and only gave up 37 bases on balls (a 7.1:1 ratio) and threw 30 complete games (267 CG in his 19 year career).
His games were over fast.

I just called DJ, (spouse).  She is at the Chinese market buying take out for our annual Jewish Christmas ritual.  Movie...followed by a movie...followed by Chinese food...followed by another movie.

How do you buy takeout at a grocery store two days in advance?
